My new boyfriend was my friend for a really long time. At the beginning of our relationship, he started showing tell-tale signs of falling in love, but I just got hurt real bad by it, and I dont want to be in love. Luckily, I didn't say those words to him even when I wanted to. He's supposed to be my date for the spring formal next month, but I recently found out that he still heavily messes around with other girls. He doesn't know that I know, but I just told him "dont flirt with hell when you got heaven." (yeah i made that up lol). and weve only been going out for 2.5 weeks. I want to duke it out until after formal (that way I can see if things change). Should i take a different approach or am i doing the right thing?

I'm not really sure if he's messing with girls at his school, but he sends unacceptable messages to other girls on myspace. The only reason why I think he's messing with real girls at his school is because I saw a message his best friend was sending him about some other girl. I only confronted him about one of them, but after I told him the story about how that **** ruined it for my bestfriend (relationship of 6 months) he seemed to have stopped

I would really recommend talking to him about what you know. Now keep in mind this an opinion. I have been married for awhile now and I know the key to any relationship is open communication. You are only setting your self up for a big blow out fight and a possible losing a friend. He needs to know you know and let him make the choice on where the relationship will go. At least your conscience will be clean in case this goes south. Good luck.

He messes around with other girls? Are you sure he knows you're his girlfriend? If so, this means he's cheating on you. This would be bad. Especially since you only just started going out. Why are you putting up with that at all? Especially since you guys were friends for so long. Instead of playing games with him, you need to confront him about the other ladies. ASAP. You're not respecting yourself by waiting it out just so you'll have a date for the formal. Come on! You're better than that. If he can't give up these other ladies you're wasting your time. You could be spending this time finding another date for the formal, one that actually is really into you and respects you and appreciates you.

Different approach, in my opinion.
Here's why.

Do you really want to go to your spring formal with a cheater? If he changes, you go to the formal without a cheater, you go with an ex-cheater. If not, you go to the formal without a cheater and you have a good reason for not having a date: you don't put up with chumps. You probably will have a girl friend who won't mind it if you dance (and dance only) with her date.

Let him know in no uncertain terms that he can't have you if he continues to act like the rooster in the henhouse. ONE chick, that's the deal or nothing. Have fun at the formal, he's probably booked a room for afterwards. Sounds like a player to me.
