i have an idea of what i believe but curious to hear other opinions. Is this mortal coil the only one we have or are we so much more than that?

Nope. There is *no* supernatural... coiled,"more" or otherwise.

Ah yes. That is the purpose of religion, Christianity to be more specific. There is an essence to the human being, a core, that survives death. The true religion attempts to preserve that core and prevent its destruction. The core is immaterial, made up of spiritual qualities. It expresses itself in the character and personality. It is the essence of the creator from which it came. The core - call it the soul - is capable of tapping into the world unseen, where spirit (the true essence of all things) moves it like wind moving the sails of a mighty tall ship.
If you could transcend all the chatter and subconscious activity of the mind, and become still, you would find that core of your being. It just is there, perfect in the moment, the only part of you that is created in the image of God, eternal.

This mortal coil is all there is. We are our appearances (Existence precedes Essence) but there are practically an infinite number of appearances.

We are spirit beings and this old flesh and blood body is temporary. Our carnal self is a tiny matter compared to our spiritual self. One day I will have a body like Jesus uncorruptible, perfect and bright. At that moment I will be able to see Jesus.
