I was in a similar situation where I was offered an instructor's position with another unit but had a six-year bonus with an engineering unit.
If you request the transfer, you will lose your bonus, it is specific to that duty position.
However, if you are promoted into another duty position, you get to keep your bonus. I put in for promotion and the unit that had wanted me to transfer got me in a duty position with their unit. I don't know how that end of it works (CSM level), but that is pretty much the only way that I've heard of changing duties without losing (and having to repay) bonuses.

In the first place, I doubt very much if your service will allow you to transfer back to your original MOS. And if they do, you can bet your boots that they're gonna want the bonus money back.

you reinlisted in to a critical mos to get the bigger bonus, my advise is to get you mos in engineering and then transfer, basiclly you reinlisted to become an enginneer, so become one and then trasfer, but you have to make it a hardship transfer, like distance or advancement. you can also trasfer to the other unit but be a driver because the mos is imaterial to the job, so you are still slotted as a engineer.

If you are talking about a assignment call your branch manager, or put in a 4187
If you are talking about a MOS change, put in a 4187, but you most likely will lose your bonus.

So you want the bonus for one job, but you don't want to do that job..and keep the money? Are you listening to yourself? Whatever happened to integrity?
