one way you'll know if it's strep throat is if you see little white spots in the back of your throat. either way, you should probably get to the doc to be sure what it is.

This may sound stupid, but with the season changing, its probably allergies. I get that, too, and the first sign is an itchiness in my ear and throat. Eventually my throat right below my ears will start hurting, but unlike a soar throat, it will feel painful even when i'm not swallowing. Try cleaning your ears out with alcohol and then put a small amount of cotton in your ears to keep an air from entering them. You will probably have to do that for a couple of days, or at least a few nights. Then try breathing in steam, put your face over a bowl of boiling water and cover your head with a towel. That's what I do, and it clears right up, and provide some immediate relief. Hope you feel better.

You could have a swollen gland that is causing it to hurt your right ear or even an ear infection. Sometimes sinus drainage causes fluid to build up in your throat and ear canals.
For strept throat look for white blisters in the back of your throat....your glands will be very swollen. If you see white blisters see a doctor for meds. However; Strept usually hurts worse when you swallow....so that's probably not strept. Only a test will tell for sure.

Sounds like you have an infection, but not strep. My doctor always said, if a cold comes first, then the sore throat, then it's not. If the soar throat comes first, then fever comes go to the doctor. I found the white spots aren't always there to detect it. My daughter didn't have any, but the strep test detected strep. You can call any hospital and ask for a RN (Nurse). They can tell you, but won't diagnose you. Just ask them the symptoms of strep.

If you have strep you will have a high fever, white patches in the back of your throat and be extremely achy. Trust me, I used to get it ALL the time as a kid. If you don't have any of these symptoms I would assume it's just an ordinary cold.
Eat some chicken noodle soup and get well soon!

that's funny you mention these symptons because I just came back from the doctor like an hour ago for the same thing. The doctor suggested I take some anti-inflamatory drugs and inhalers to help sooth the soreness. Usually the symptoms you suggested are caused by a viral bug that comes and goes. Unless you have a fever, I wouldnt worry to much about it. You're just going to have to tough it out.

Could be strep, but it could be larangitis, tonsilitis, or just a cold. Go to your doctor.
