About 3months ago I decided to cut off my best friend after she started doing drugs (esctasy, weed, coke, etc.) and started becoming verbally abusive towards me and my husband.
I was a few months pregnant and I felt she needed help and being in my situation it was a hard thing to do but the best for my family.
After I told her I dont want to talk to her anymore, she basically went insane: calling, text messaging, hacking into my emails to see what i was doing, harassing my friends, etc.
This has continued for 3months!! I changed my numbers and we happened to move a few miles away but the emails dont stop. And they have gone from harrassing to threatening me. She has told me she hopes me and my child die and has said she cant wait to see me on the streets one day.
I know i can file a restraining order but they take alot of time and paperwork and i was wondering if I could do anything NOW?!

After reading your entire comment, I'm impressed with what you HAVE done up to this point.

It appears the only problem left are the emails. You could notify friends and family of an email change to avoid further contact.

Bottom line is this...she is violating one specific law in my state known as "Harassing Communications." By threatening you with serious bodily harm or death, you could add the charge of stalking.

My suggestion is that you contact your local law enforcement agency and file a complaint. You will then need to file for a warrant for her arrest. The more she gets away with harassing you...the more she will continue to harass you unless you show her that you are not "playing games."

Best wishes.

In this case I would file a restraining order because your friend is not mentally stable due to the drug use and she's harassed your husband too so that makes it even more worthwhile to pursuit a restraining order and if you're pregnant you can add that she's jeopardizing the safety of you and your unborn child. It doesnt take a lot to file just have all the evidence of her harassment on hand so the judge and court can see this and make a determination.

Call the police, filing a restraining order doesn't take a lot of time, they can do it almost immediately if you life is being threatened. Save all the emails to show the police and to bring to court. You will have to go to court eventually after you file for a restraining order. Your safety and your childs is the most imprtant thing here, don't worry about time, just do what you have to do.

You need to make your local police department aware of what’s going on with you. To be safe, you need to let them know so if something does happen to you, she’d be the first person they come looking for. In my state what happens is you contact the police, you bring as much evidence with you that shows she’s been harassing and threatening you. They will take your information as well as hers. They will go to her and ask her nicely to stop. They will inform her and you if she doesn’t stop then she can and will be locked up.

Getting a restraining order doesn’t take that long. The day that you go file for the order of protection, you’re usually given a temporary one that same day. Then you’re given a court date to go back for them to issue you a more permanent one. But when you walk out of the court the day you go down to get the ball rolling you’re going to be given something that same day.

I know from personal experience, my boyfriend and I were being harassed and threatened by his ex. We contacted the police who told her very nicely to knock it off but just to be safe we went and filed an order of protection against her.

next time she contacts you in a threatening way call the police. Have your friends call the police while she harrasses them. meanwhile, get the restraining order. each thing which you listed aside from calling + textual content cloth messaging (till she's doing it excessively - wherein case you need to plausibly make a harrassment declare) is unlawful. yet first, bypass on your community police station and communicate over with an officer. See what they are able to do to assist - they're going to assist you to recognize all your recommendations.

File a police report and keep filing them with every threat. That way if she does do something you have it on record already that she isn't to be around you.

Good Luck! & Congrats on the new baby!

You can get a temporary restraining order quickly and CHANGE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS!! How can she bother you if you get a different e-mail address? what's more trouble, changing your address or putting up with her? Just because she sends an e-mail, doesn't mean you have to read it! Just block her!
