Any one of the three. We've all done stupid things or not done smart things - like not washing hands. Causing misery is part of Satan's Prime Directive. As for God, read any of the first dozen books of the old testament. Most of these, God caused someone to suffer, or to die, because they offended God in some way. Also look at Job. There God allowed Job to suffer so that He may share a greater message with the rest of us.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

the bible clearly shows that satan the devil is to blame for all bad things in this world. but the bible shows that soon God's kingdom will wipe out not only satan and his demons but also death, disease, pain and suffering, and bring back loved ones form the grave. Rev 21:3,4

I don't believe God is to blame for sure. His will is for us a full and abundant life while we are here for this short time. I am not saying Satan is at fault either, but I am saying that some afflictions we have here on earth are not Godly.
With God, however, we can overcome them. That is biblical and tried and true.

Purely from a Christian point of view...it's the Satan, who comes to steal, kill and destroy. God, through the Holy Bible, tells us that our body is His temple, that we must maintain it as He wanted it to be- neat, clean and free of disease.

But we humans are tempted by the Satan to do things that are against God's will such as indulge in adultery or careless sex, while fully aware that we can get sick, by engaging in vices such as drink and smoke and drugs etc.

Disease occurs when we humans fail to maintain our body- His temple- the way He wanted it to be. And Satan wants to rob God of his temple so the devil will do anything.

If a person is immoral and contracts HIV, then who do you think is to blame for that? Why do think that half of Africa is dying of AIDS? Good example of a disease spread by human behavior that violates the laws of life.

What do you mean by blame? It is quite possible the disease is a punishment, or it could be that God intended for this person to live with the disease. Everyone has a cross to bear; the question is, will you?

If God is God, whatever he does is perfect.
If you believe God is not perfect, then you believe he doesn't exhist.
You can probably blame Satan.
Rarely is it the persons fault.

I don't think anyone is to blame..... disease just happens........ or does it? I personally believe that most diseases were manufactured in a lab somewhere so someone could test them to see what they would do, then it got away from them.......o...i said too much........

No one. Diseases are caused by viruses and bacteria.

Some of the superstitious answers on this thread make me worry deeply about the quality of our education system.
