if you are going to get or not get a tattoo based on how much it will hurt then you shouldn't get one. everybody takes pain differently. some people say it is unbearable and some people think it doesn't hurt at all. i have a friend who sleeps during tattoos. i read and chew gum to keep my mind off of the pain. this weekend i had some work done for 2 1/2 hours and i would say on a pain scale from 1-10 the pain was at an almost constant 7.

It does hurt. How much depends on where you get the tattoo, how big it is and what your pain tolerance level happens to be. Tattoos on the back , upper arm and thigh are said to hurt less than on the stomach, lover arm and chest. I just had a large piece done on my upper back and it hurt more in some places than in others. Some people will say that color hurts more than lines (black) and some say less. I thought more, but my piece has a lot of color. The pain can be anywhere from the feeling of a shaving razor cut to a bee sting to a stabbing feeling. If it's you first tattoo, go for something small and tell the artist you are nervous so they can give you a break if needed.

Well honestly its a good thing that you are going to get a tattoo but, it will hurt depending were you put it if its on your back or lower it won't hurt as much. But if its on the ankle its gonna be pretty painful...anywhere else wont hurt much. So just also make sure its not a big tattoo too..

This shouldn't be a spur of the moment decision. I thought about getting a tattoo for 11 years before I finally went through with it! Be sure it's a design and a location on your body that you can live with for the rest of your life.
That being said, I personally didn't think it hurt that badly. I'm sure it depends on the location. I got mine on my lower back, just above my butt, and since I have some padding back there anyway it didn't hurt that bad. My tattoo artist said the black outline hurts more than the color, and I think that was true. I'm not a sadist, but I enjoyed the pain. It was an awesome experience in my opinion.
Oh and the user named Sunshine who said "Tattoos on girls are kind of trashy! Plus, you open yourself up to getting Hepatitis!!" Tattoos being trashy? That's her opinion only. As for opening yourself up to hepatitis? That's a totally ignorant statement. Any decent tattoo parlor will show you that they are using a brand new, unopened needle for your tattoo.

it doesnt actually hurt that bad. have you ever gotten a shot before? feels the same, but only stings for a few minutes, after you get the tattoo, put some neosporin on it and you wont feel a thing. i have 3 myself and none of them hurt me. just research the person or place you are gettin the tattoo from. ask around. be safe! and good luck....by the way, tatooes on girls are hot

It really depends on the design of it and the reason of having a tat. Coz' u won't want to regret it in 10 years time. If it's just for the sake of a fashion statement, then get a semi-permanent one. If the design represents a certain meaning or sentimental values to u, then i would say go ahead. Tattooing your boyfriend's /girlfriend's name is definitely not advisable.

While I have never gotten a tattoo, I believe you should try to look forward in your life, and try to imagine yourself with that tattoo when you're 30, 40, 60, 80. If you can imagine it, and you think you are comfortable with it, go ahead and get it, but if you think there might be some doubt, you should probably take a little more time to think it through.

It really depends on where you get it.My one on my back I actually started to fall asleep during it.The one on my arm didn't bother me much, but there was a few spots that I was more then happy when the artist was finished with LOL.My wife says the same, she has 4 and the worse for her was her lower back. She said if that was her first she probably wouldn't have gotten another. But her other ones didn't bother her much either and she's getting another one done this weekend. You'll find that odds are,the thought in your mind about how bad it will be is alot worse then what it really is.

Don't do it what looks great today can look ghastly tomorrow
I grew up in the 70's and I shudder at the thought that a fad that I like in the 70's I would still have to live with today thank god we could get rid of ours.
