What is the best kind of microphone for field reporting?

I'm looking for a good rugged omni-direction mic... any ideas?

the PG58 is not omni. The Shure SM63 is a wired omni handheld designed just for that.

Also look at the hhB FlashMic - records to a memory card, dumps to your computer for editing.
