Its a great family sport. I was raised around it, and I love everything about it. Personally I like the competition aspect of it. A lot of people say it is just a bunch of guys driving around it circles, which it technically is, but there is so much that goes into getting the cars to handle correctly and making it look so easy. Many friends are made at the local tracks too. They are able to compete against each other, but will also help each other out, which you wont find in any other sport. It is just fun to root for your favorite driver. It also helps when you actually know stuff about racing. Like I don't like watching some sports, but if I knew more about them, then I'm sure I would be more interested.

Everything - pick a division of racing - then follow it for a bit - pick a favorite driver - and then watch them win or crash trying. It is exciting - especially on weekends where you have short tracks and road races - but even in the other venues, there is the buddy system and/or the "you're an old decrepit never was" kind of attitude. There are the youngsters - who are trying to make their name known, there are the old timers, who just want that bit of glory again! I've personally been watching since the early 80's when they started showing it on TV. I've been a bit more passionate about it since the early 90's when my now Husband and I started watching it. My son, who is almost 7, sees the #24 and calls him Gordy. I hope he has the same passion about the sport as we do. Its good clean family entertainment. They get penalized for cursing on TV, and for cheating! They pray at the beginning of every race and have a chaplain that travels with them. They give lots and lots of money for charity, and the Victory Junction Camp was started by the Petty family, and many many drivers gave money and volunteer. So many drivers have foundations that do great things. They spread the wealth and are very loyal to their fans, who in turn are loyal to them!! And no.... not all passionate fans come from the South - I am from New York!!

It boils down to personal preference. Just like any other sport, racing is not for everyone. I enjoy it because I grew up going to races at the local track and listening to and watching races with my dad. It was something that we could do together. Now it is one of the few things we have in common. We can always talk about racing.

I find it to be exciting. I love to see a five hundred mile race come down to one car beating another by mere inches. I like the different personalities among the drivers, teams and the commentators. I get into the teams and race strategy. I enjoy the spectacle of the event of a race.

I do not just watch NASCAR. I watch drag racing, F1, sports cars and motorcycles.

I watch racing. It is my sport of choice. You might prefer hockey, football or baseball. It is up to you.

The competition. With "stick and ball" sports, you have two teams and one wins and one looses. With NASCAR you have 43 teams in every event. Therefore one winner and 42 loosers. The guys drive their hearts out to be #1 week in and week out. It is so difficult to simply win a race. You have to be faster than 42 others, you have to have a better car, your driver can not make a mistake, Your 7 crew guys have to be perfect for pit stops, your crew chief has to make the right adjustment, plus, you need a TON of luck. You have to pray that something doesn't break on your car and that no one crashes into you. Racing is the most competitive, exciting sport out there. It is like a four hour long roller coaster.

Different people enjoy different things. Some like baseball, others footbal, others basketball, others NASCAR. If you really watch a race from start to finish, with an open mind, I think you'd be suprised to find that the sport is engaging, exciting, and really easy to watch and understand.

The key is not sitting down in front of the TV with a preconcieved notion of what the sport is and what types of people watch it. Contrary to popular belief, although it is southern based, it is not a "redneck" (i hate that term) sport. People of all races, colors, demographics, and socioeconomic statures watch and enjoy the sport.

Seriously...give it a chance. if you dont like it, then at least you tried.

I see more families at a Nascar race than I do at a football or baseball game. It's interesting, fast and once you get into it, it's hard to not attend any race.

I just think it's hard to explain to a non-race watcher, just like some people hate NFL or Basketball, you just cant seem to turn them over to the sport. I just started watching nascar a few years ago and picked a driver i liked and watched it ever since.

Everything if you spent the time to actually watch it you would feel the excitement that every single fan gets when their driver is leading a lap or winning the race or anything. Then their is the crashes and they drafting and the pit stops. Everything is just amazing. Their isnt really a way to explain it.

If you don't like Nascar why are you here? Go and answer some science questions or something.

how could you ask a question like that. 43 cars going over 100 miles an hour. plus the most of the drivers are very fine. Take SMOKE for example. He should be voted the sexiest man alive!!!
