Birds that are solid black in color...not black birds or crows.

Well, there are several breeds of black chickens, including bantams (smaller than a regular chicken), the most black being the Black Australorps, which even has solid black eyes.

But for indoors there is the mynah bird, which used to be a popular pet, but seems to be out of fashion at present. May be worth enquiring at larger pet centres if they can obtain one for you, or search Google for breeders in your area.

how are crows and blackbirds not black?
The only bird that would be legal that i can think of is a myna bird which has a bit of yellow mask on it's face. they're good talkers.

I have a solid black orpington hen if that helps. There are also black east indie ducks.

The closest I can think of are starlings. They are legal because they are not native to the U.S. I raised one once that fell out of a nest and he imprinted on me..thus had to be kept as a "pet".
