does anyone know of a website that shows a clear view, whether it be aerial or driving view of street maps.?

I am looking for a particular street but i want to see what type of street, if it's residential or industrial, i want to see the surroundings to make sure it doesn't lead me into a scary canyon.........................I had a bad experience, that's why this question sounds so strange.............................Oh, also that it's free....thanks....

Satellite would be excellent, i actually want to see the "street view", of course free!!!!
