I have checked the icon and the volume nothing is muted everything should be running fine.

if nothing else works and you are using xp run a system restore, restore it to yesterday if possible or the closest thing to today that you can, it was the only way to get my sound back after I downloaded a game.

Doubleclick the small icon on the bottom right corner of your screen that looks a small loudspeaker. This will open the volume control. Check to see that the Mute box is not checked.

Bottom right corner there should be a icon for your volume. Open it and see if mute is checked or if volume is all the day down.

u can get it back by reinstalling the sound card drivers and if u lost the taks bar icon than all u have to do is go and click on start and than go to control panel and than click sound icon and than one window will open in that u can high light the icon which reads that show sound icon on task bar

That depends, often you can just re-boot the computer and the OS will notice the new hardware. If this does not happen, you can manually add the hardware using computer management/ device manager to add the hardware. You will need to know the manufacturer and model number and it helps if you have a software disk with the .inf files for your specific sound card.

I don't think you deleted it completely. Just go to the start menu- settings- control panel- sounds/audio to access it that way. If you did happen to delete it you can take it out of the recycle bin if it's in there, also.
