Whatever you want to eat. The only way you are going to loose weight and keep it off is if you make a change to the whole way you eat. So if you force yourself to eat grated carrot in the morning and you hate it, how long are you going to keep that up?? It'l just make you feel miserable.
The most important thing about breakfast is that it is filling. If you eat enough for breakfast, you won't be tempted to snack on things before lunchtime comes.
Any kind of fruit is good, as it is full of natural sugars which set you up for the day. Eggs are also good because of the protein in them, but be careful and not eat too many - make it a once-weekly treat if you like eggs. The best thing for me is museli with rasins, fresh fruit, a small handful of nuts, and a big glass of orange juice. The oats expand in your stomacha dn fill you up nicely. If you don't have a lot of time in the morning (like me!) you can make up the oats, raisins and nuts and keep it sealed in a box, chop up the fruit and keep it in the fridge, and then just chuck it in a bowl in the morning. If you like it, porridge is good as it does the same thing.
Like I said, eat what you want to eat. If you fancy a bacon roll one morning, have a bacon roll. Don't feel guilty about it, just think, well, that's me had my treat for being good this week. It'll make you feel better all round. Good luck!

The key is to awake your metabolism by eating in smaller quantities more times the day. The concept behind this is that you send a message to your body that you have plenty of food available, and thus your body uses the energy instead of cumulating it. If you eat once a day for example, you would be sending your body the message that there is no food around, and that it needs to cumulate fat in order to await the next meal... Changing the metabolism requires some time.
Breakfast is the time to eliminate toxins and fuel up with carbohydrates for the day.
Thus, you could split breakfast in three parts, for example:
1) Drink liquid: mineral water alone or with lemon and/or plain herbal tea. You can always sweeten with honey, but honey is best when taken alone.
2) Then, (15-30min. later...), eat fruits. You shall start with more liquid fruits (watermelon, grapes, apple) to those more solid (banana).
3) Then (30min.-1h.) you should eat grain. Whole wheat grain (or other grain) with honey, dried fruits, almonds, walnuts, nuts, etc. would be the best choice, but you might not want that every day. You could eat muesli in apple juice instead, for example.
The idea is to eat carbohydrates rich in fiber, minerals and vitamins.
Try to avoid milk, butter, cheese... and meat. Leave proteins for later the day. Do not mix carbohydrates with proteins.
That is as far as breakfast would go :)
4) If you want to continue with your breakfast, you could put some jam on Graham or other integral bread :D, but always leave reasonable time inbetween meals...

Porridge?? What's that? Anyway, try for a combination of complex carbos and lean protein. The carbs will get you going and the protein will have staying power. Try to think out of the breakfast box; there are many foods that will help you lose weight that are not necessarily breakfast foods.

No doubt at all-porridge! Anywhere you look you will find positive things about porridge. If possible make with half water and half semi skimmed milk. I have lost 7lbs in the last month simply by eating porridge and no other real changes to my diet. It is sometimes difficult to face but actually I usually enjoy it! You can have a little sugar or honey/dried fruit to sweeten. Good luck!

Oatmeal. Get steel-cut or whole groat oats and cook them in a slow cooker for best results.
Food that has the least processing is best for you, and oats are excellent for losing weight.

Apples are a great way to start your morning, they have more get up and go in them than a cup of coffee. Also I take along a to-go package of Cream of Wheat if I get hungry before lunch.
