Funny... I think it's their way of trying to avoid responsibility and fear of being "beneath" someone.

The 'original sin' was the result of Satan using the same tactic that continues to fool humans... the idea of being like God.

Every sin commited is a result of man thinking he's above all authority. Even the belief that there is no God is putting ones self above all that was created. For that line of thinking they will be judged drastically for in the end.

*The funny thing about that is if man was above all that was created, why can't we solve all the problems of the world? or at least live forever?

These people are only fooling themselves. Yep, Satan has pimped them.

By "People" I assume you are referring to someone like me, an atheist

I suppose I could turn it around and ask you why you keep imagining that there is a god, but that would be too easy. The truth is that I have "thought about it" and found that there are too many inconsistencies to make it relevent to my life. It does not mean that I am immoral, I think it is extremely important to lead a good life (as in doing good to others), and have others remember me as a decent and honest person. What I don't believe is that I am going to be judged on my behavior on some unspecified date in the future.

And as far as evidence goes, there is more proof that we are the natural product of an evolutionary process, than that we were placed here by a higher power

The most common argument against the existence of God is the existence of suffering and injustice. "How can there be a God, if there is pain in the world?" "If there really were a God, He would eliminate all suffering!"

This shows a total lack of understanding of the purpose of difficulties and trials in our lives. God sent us here to earth to learn to be like Him - perfectly compassionate, loving and just. This does not mean that we are doing what we should. Many of us are not even being true to the light and knowledge that we have been given to this point.

There was a study performed on children recently. Children who had been harmed by their peers were given the opportunity to choose the punishments for their tormentors from several options, including having the other children suffer exactly what they had. Almost all of them chose a punishment that was LESS than they had experienced.

The researchers concluded that the children had learned compassion and empathy from their pain!

God understands His children. We learn to be kind by hearing, seeing, and doing. And an essential part of this learning is to learn compassion for those around us.

Also, a footnote:

God will only punish us only as little as necessary to get us to change for the better. And He blesses us as much as eternal law will allow. (God is perfectly obedient to eternal laws.) But He does not take away our right to choose, even the right to choose evil. Because of this sometimes innocent people will suffer. But He promises to turn our suffering into blessing if we will continue to praise Him and be obedient to Him.

I feel really sorry for the lost souls who answered your question from the nastiest part of their being, I bet if they could use foul swears here they would. They don't want to believe that there is a god because it would mean having to feel bad for all their wrong-doings, whatever they may be, they're afraid to own their own mistakes. They are the blamers. Notice how none of them could give you a real answer, and how they would rather call you down than really look at themselves for what this question is asking. If there really is a God, then there really is a Devil, and Hell. For how these people are reacting to your question, it's pretty clear that they've lost hope for themselves and don't think that they can be saved and go to Heaven. They think that the easiest way for them out of hell is to pretend it doesn't exist. Doesn't it sound better to turn to dust than to burn in a lake of fire for the rest of eternity! We are surrounded by evidence of God, the fact that we breathe, look at our computer screens and answer questions on this website, is evidence that he exists, I don't know of any thing in existence that could give us what God gives us.

Imagination and God go hand in hand.

Why do you choose to imagine that we don't have millions and million of pages and documentations of Evolution. Science is consistently adding to the huge amount of information supporting the theory of evolution, yet you choose to pretend that it doesn't exist?

That is insanity. You may look at a pretty sunset and think "that has to be God". A Hindu may think "that has to be Vishnu". A Muslim may think "That has to be Allah"

These are all very nice things to think, but they are sole based on emotion, not on evidence.

Please do yourself a favor and actually study some of the latest findings in evolution. You will be stunned. Start by looking up Transitional Fossils. You will find that there are thousands of fossils that have been found that are the missing links that you have been told don't exist.......

Here we go again!! where is the so called evidence of god creating the world, please show me any data which can be backed up by scientific validation and not by some quotes from the bible. There is ample evidence however for the scientific theory of evolution. Now I know that we can go round in circles with christians saying that evolution was thought up by god, so quite simply you belive what you want and until I see evidence that god exists I will continue to believe scientific evidence.

Think about it...hmmmm NO not sure if there is a God..but my landscaper is fantastic:) Your god may have put many wonderful and beautiful things on this earth....but what does he do to keep it up. Is he out there feeding the starving children??? Stopping the natural disasters??? I prefer to imagine there may not be a GOd...because the one you think exists seems pretty uninterested or just plain evil.
But I sure am thankful your God created free will....so I can tell you what a slimmy awhole you are:)
Why do you ask a question pretending you really care when all you are doing is insulting people with a bit of sugar coating.

It's much harder to imagine the existance of something unseen, unproven, unrealistic, senseless, impossible, than to believe this "god" does exist.
If he created all, do you mean children born without arms, the starvation, the suffering, the killing, HIV and AIDS, the hurricanes, and tsumies, so many other miseries ?
If he created all, the above have to be included. If you say he had no control of the above, then he is not All mighty.
Think about it.

...so you didn't think I utterly destroyed you the FIRST time you asked this question? You must REALLY like running around in circles.

In order for there to be a "Creation", there must be a Creator by definition. Fine. Prove that the Creator exists.

Ah, but you say that the proof of the Creator is the Creation.

I can run circles with you all day, but I have more productive things to do than to pander to Begged Questions and absurd logic.

What evidence?

It is the theists who have to have immense imaginations to dream up a god when there is just a book that's 2000 years old with doubtful authorship to go on.
