No, it just depends on how recent. I'm sure it would be out of your system in a max. of 2 weeks and what are they going to do if you say no and pass a drug test. Nothing, your better off not mentioning it. Marijuana is better than Hydrocodone though. Think about it, Hydrocodone is a strong painkiller/analgesic..Marijuana is very mild. You can't go by the "Class Schedule for Drugs", it's ridiculous and has Marijuana in the same category as PCP. Heroin, Meth., Ecstasy and a lot more things that are FAR worse.

My job involves the hiring of police officers and in my experience, policies about hiring vary from department to department. Vicodin is a narcotic pain reliever. I don't know if it is regarded as better, the same, or worse than marijuana. However, with my department, it is not an automatic disqualifier. But there are several questions that you would be asked to determine your eligibility.
How long ago was it? There is usually a time frame that you are required to be drug free prior to your application.
What was the extent of your usage? Did you obtain it from a family member to actually treat pain, or did you purchase it from someone to get high? Were you addicted at any point?
Also any factors such as whether you stole the Vicodin, or stole money to pay for it, etc. may come into play later.
The bottom line is that there are more people out there this day & age that have tried/done some type of drug or another and departments are having to try to relax their standards regarding drugs.

Yes, it is a narcotic. If you used viccodin as a recreational drug, rather than it's subscribed intended use, then that is a problem. If you try to lie on your polygraph, it will show, unless you know a way around "faking" a response to that question. I would admit to using it occasionally, but that it was not a problem. They will not want to hire someone that is dependent on a drug, it might affect your decision making skills.
However, if you are really serious about going into law enforcement, and are free from that addiction then you have no problem getting hired. If you're what a department is looking for and prove to them you are dependable, there's no problem with you getting the job. Good luck!

Under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), certain specific drugs with specific "strengths" are placed in "schedules" of the CSA.
As others have already said, Vicodin, (Hydrocodone), is a "controlled" drug that if not prescribed can be considered a violation of the law.
Depending upon the amount of time passed and what OTHER people may report as part of your background check, COULD turn around and be considered "deceptive" if you aren't truthful during your application process.
I'm sure there are a lot of "skeletons" in peoples closets that only become scarey when you lie about them!
Best bet....show that you're an honest person so that it doesn't hurt you in the long run!
Best wishes.

tell them. possessing a pretend identity is a very minor crime. Having carried out so won't exclude you from turning out to be a Deputy. although.... in case you do no longer tell them, and it concerns you lots which you're on right here asking approximately it, you will get uncovered on the polygraph. as quickly as they ask you in case you ever devoted against the regulation that exchange into no longer detected, you will flash onto the pretend identity, get frightened and get pegged on deception. Then, once you tell them approximately it, they're going to ask why you lied in the 1st place, you wont have a sturdy answer, and that they are going to coach you the door. purely be up front with them from the commencing up, and additionally you will do high quality, exceptionally if it somewhat is the worst element you have have been given on your history!

If it was prescribed by a doctor, then it definitely is no problem. If it was prescribed by your friendly drug pusher, then you may have a problem. Some departments will allow prior drug use, if it has been over a year, since you used. Other departments will not tolerate any prior drug use. Another problem is what kind of testing do they do? Some tests can detect drugs from several years back.

It depends, were you using it for kicks or for serious pain? Did you get them by a doctor or buy them off a friend? If it was for pain and was under doctors care you will be fine. If you abused the drug then is might be something the sheriff's office might have a problem with. Remember there is a lie detector test during your hiring process.

The question is not so much the usage but why you were using it. If you had a valid prescription from a doctor then you should be OK. However if it was for recreational use and no prescription then you will have a problem.

It is a narcotic, it has to do with if you were legally prescribed it or not. If you were under a doctors care, I can't see how it would matter.
