hey man, what kind of a question is that one? I'd prefer dumping my santitos from the altars and have a Flavor Flav poster hanged on my wall instead anytime! Don't be such a square!

The mexican youth in the USA, migth keep their traditional values if they want to, and still should learn english and respect American Laws.

Just as any immigrant from any other nation, i guess all the world have seem how the chinesse in the USA conserve a lot of their traditions, as well as yewish, or Irish people. But they learned english.

I'm a proud mexican, i love my country, i love our traditions, but i am consious that USA immigrants have a lot more to do and decide than that. They will have to offer something in exchange, wich is not much, but the work they are already doing, as well as learn english, and honor the country that are receiving and giving them the work that sadly they didn't find in my country.

I don't understand why you keep going on this kind of questions, wich doesn't really help with the understand of both points of view.

I believe you should know this is not the best argument for the Mexican, or any other immigrants in the USA, for stay or not stay, for get or not get permiss to stay, for learn or not learn english.

Why don't they just be themselves and be open to new things from this country too.. I see Mexican music videos that do both. Do you only have to do one or the other ? Don't be sheep, but the youth of any culture like to be like their friends. They want to be like their peers.
Liking some hip hop music doesn't make you a bad person, heck I like some myself and I'm a grown woman. Music is simply music, you decide whether or not you buy into the rest of the BS.
Why cant they just be like the normal kids that study,do well in school and don't do drugs or commit crimes. America still has lots of those people too.

America has no culture of its own. Its very interesting however that you say, "THE hip hop American culture." Hip-Hop is the multi-faceted grandchild of blues, jazz, gospel and a direct decendant of the Black Arts Movement. These are the contributions of African-Americans who kept THEIR traditional values even while not completely understanding them. They were the ANITHESIS of "American." Identifying Hip-Hop as American artform or icon has proven America's mainstream way of capitilizing ANOTHER cultural form and identifying it as it's "own."

The US is a country of immigrants and slaves. So if these youth "adopt American culture," it'll be a mismatched, misconstrued montage of any of everything that can generate profit without conscious or cause. What's REAL, is what has been preserved in your household by your parents and grandparents. Those are "traditional values" and are worth preserving for the overall benefit of the family and the individuals.

If you CHOOSE to be here, there is a level of assimilation you must conform to. That balance is necessary. But there is no need to be a zombie, no matter how cute and popular MTV, IPods and Justin Timberlake make they may seem.

I don't know what your intent was with this question, but I'm sure it's a valid concern for someone... hope I helped.

Im sure that a little of both will be done, and there is nothing in my opinion wrong with a "hip hop" culture. If you mean valuing money over all else, then some Mexican youths already learned that in Mexico. I've seen small poor pueblos in Mex where they fight wiht their neighbors about who has more money....and NO ONE has money...its a stupid way to be. Money does not make a person! and i personally like Hip Hop music.

I think you could probably do a little of both. It's important to remember family ties and traditions so they can be passed on to future generations before they're gone and forgotten. In the meantime, you can enjoy American culture as well.

One of the pay backs for the immigrants is that they are more or less going to be forced to watch their children become what the youth of America has been evolving in to.
We can fight them at the border, fight them in the courts of law and perhaps fight them in the streets but short of simply becoming a Mexican province, the children of Mexico, spirited illegally into this country will suffer the same degradation our own children are realizing at the hands of a corrupt and unconcerned government and a fractured society.

I don´t know what you mean by hip-hop culture, but if you´re talking about the music, I can´t stand it and would prefer Mexican music any day.

Wow...you haven't given us Latinas much of an option there. I do still hold some of my familia's traditional values, however I have CHOSEN to develop my own lifestyle, rather than adopting someone else's. It has been very empowering, and I feel that I get the rerspect I deserve.
