About 2 months ago i was given 2 budgies-both male.Problem is they won`t shut up!At first they were in the lounge but we couldn`t hear the tv for them.I thought give them time to settle down as it is quite a noisy household. But no,they went on and on.Then i thought maybe they need some peace and quiet just until they settle in,so i put them upstairs in the spare room. The noise continued. As soon as the door opens off they go tweeting, squawking, twittering, whistling, like 2 lunatics non-stop,and even when door is closed you can come upstairs and off they go as soon as they hear you.I don`t know what it is that sets them off.I`m in another room now and they are at it as we speak, going barmy.Neighbours must be able to hear them all over the street and i live in a very quiet neighbourhood so it`s embarrassing.I see my neighbour looking up at the window like-what`s going on up there....?Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with them ?They eat and drink ok,but they do seem nervous of me.

I have four Budgies. Males are the "talkative" ones. They are nosiy sometimes, but it is becasue they are happy, and they are social birds, and so they are even more happy to see you when you walk in and see them.
My birds have always been "nosiy" but for the last 2 or so months, my birds have been EXTRA noisy... I think that it is the season (males and spring and all that jazz)
we have had them 2 years and this is the most noise we have ever heard from them. Do not "cover" them to make them quiet long term. this will depress them and make them sad and possibly make them sick. they need light to be happy and healthy.
When my birds get too noisy and will not settle down, I put on classical music (calm stuff) and I take a light colored sheet and cover about half to 2/3rds of the cage and tell them nap time. They usually settle down for a nap time after a few minutes. but After a hour or so I take the sheet off so they will not be deprived of too much "play" time.
Budgies are also very active and curious... they may be bored and so they sing. make sure they have lots of toys and room to play. if they are not "trained" and stay in a cage all day, make sure it is a LARGE cage, becasue they need to be active to be happy. My birds are fully trained and so I let them out to fly around the house for ahwile and that usually calms them down and quiets them up for awhile.
Good luck, and if it too much for you, try to find them a loving home. Remember- Music is in the ear of the beholder. :)

I have two males 5 years now and they still get nervous of me. Also they are noisy and that is a sign of their contentment. If they are very quiet they are not happy and thats a fact. I think you are a bit over the top by suggesting that you are embarrassed because of them because in my experience people quiet like to hear them. I give mine the freedom to fly around the house because i dont believe in locking them up all day. They go in and out of the cage all day and when it starts to get dark they retire to the cage for the night.. If you are watching telly or something then do as i do if they are too noisy, put a cover over the cage , that will quiten them down but it would be cruel to leave it on all the time.. If you cannot cope with them then I suggest that you sell them or give them away.. I love mine and the noise doesnt bother me one little bit but each to their own..

Nothing is “wrong with them” at all; some budgies just tend to be very vocal, especially if there is another bird around. We used to have several, and they were very loud. They would be just sitting there one minute, and then they would be going crazy the next. Once one started, they all joined in. Even if you do cover the cage, they may still be quite loud. It’s just the kind of thing you need to tolerate if you have birds.
Small birds do tend to be nervous. Handle them often, go slowly, and don't do anything loud or make quick movements around them. Also, if the cage is in a lower place, and you tower over the cage when you walk up to them, that can make them nervous as well.

if you can't stay the noise you better look for a nice loving home for them, i have two budgies and a African Grey and my little ones making more noises then the big one,but it don't bother me at all,it just shows me they are happy little birds.people should think about before they get pet's and read about them and not after they got them starting to find out it was the wrong choice,if its really bothering you that much you never ever should think about to get another bird, because they all make noises ,that's theirs kind to communicate with each other and by the way its mating season too :p and don't yell at them ,it will make it just worst LOL and birds are not stupid,so if you cover the cage they know its not night time LOL and they maybe just will be quite for a minute

i dint think it matters wether theres 1 or 2 in a cage they will be the same or where they are i used to think the tv or radio set them off but its no better now they are away from the noises

i have two budgee's that are the same. there is nothing wrong with them it's just how they are. When they are being noisy put a towel over the cage so it makes it dark. They think it's night time and they stay quiet

We had two budgies, like you we were given them, and they never stopped either! they went on and on, one of them had a major barney a few times a day with his reflection in the mirror. we just use to yell at them cos it made us feel better and finally one died which meant the other one only had his mirror to argue with, then he died a year later. now we have a 2 year old daughter and even at her worst she doesn't make as much noise as them damn birds did! we have a small house and had no where else to put them apart from the living room but even then i think they'd still have been easily heard anywhere in the house.
birds aren't everyone's ideal pets, sounds like they're not mine or yours! and not wanting to sound cruel but they don't live more than a few years normally.

there is nothing wrong with them, they are just noisy chattering birds.you have two options.1 learn to put up with them or 2 rehome them with someone who likes the noise.there is option 3 but paxo seems a little extreme.

I wish you lived near me, I'd gladly take your two chattering, noisy male budgies. I love listening to budgies sing and screech...and I have two females.:)
