Hey Sugar Crave,

The Chippewa Indians, also known as the Ojibwa, lived mainly in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Ontario, Canada. They were part of the Algonquian Indians. The Algonquian Indians consisted of various tribes that spoke similar languages. The Chippewas were closely related to the Ottawa Indians and Potawatomi Indians.

If you are looking for your ancestors, and their decendants, you should do your homework before you take your trip, (which you seem to be doing), but with respect to your Family Tree also. If you can document back to your known ancestors that were Chippewa, then it will be easier to Identify your distant cousins.

Don't be afraid to use the Internet tools like GENFORUM, for a specific surname that is an outstanding way to link with distant cousins.
