It is a fallacy that most people get depressed during the dark nights. That is related to the condition SAD. In fact more people get depressed and commit suicide in the springtime than any other season. You need to visit the doctor and let him know. Just as people with SAD need treatment for the dark nights you may just need a pick me up after the rigours of winter are over, or perhaps just vitamins. Get a check up and stop worrying.

The light conductive sheath around your optic nerve sends extra levels of light down to your monochiasmatic nucleus which is part of your pituitary gland. It responds by producing lots of lovely hormones concerned with the mating instinct and heightened activity.
Basically you're a hormone addict on a downer in the evenings when all those hormones run out. Ask your doctor for an SSRI such as paroxtine.

Has anything bad ever happened to you in the summertime? When I was a teenager, the summertime was always the time I would get my heart broken by summer romances...I began to hate the summers but have since grown out of that.

I think I have the same problem.I hate summers, sunny days, bright light, sweaty people, sand etc. I love winter, sub zero temperatures, overcast and rain make me feel like home ;) It's my natural environment. I can't stand summertime, because of the stereotype of people getting a suntan and going to the sea,and I don't even ,like wearing summer clothes...

Hi i do but its mostly because I would do anything to get a skinny bod so I can wear T-shirt or shorts but I know I will never look like those skinny girls so I dont even bother trying to get that way. So I just cover up and wear what I always wear. and not go out of the house.

You are not alone. Springtime actually has the greatest number of suicides compared to other seasons. It may be to do with greater expectations to feel happier and these expectations can be soure of stress or disappointment if they are unmet. Or you may have something else going on which is making you feel bad.

I love the summer time. It means swimming and sun tanning. If your anything like me tho theres this little bit of me that hates summer cause I have to watch the skinny chicken heads walk around in there skimpi bikini's thinking they are so great cause thye are skinny. Im more like a beached whale in my swimsuite. I eat too many munchies! Owell if you dont like it dont look right! ;-0

sometimes it can be more positive to your mental health to see frequent weather changes. A consistent blue sky can kind of unsettle you not only because it's boring , but you could think you should be out getting a suntan or doing sports, it makes you feel lazy, you're just staying in when you could be doing active stuff, and that your life is going to waste.

Opposite to me too. I love summer but I'm a grumpy and lethargic sod during winter.
