She found out the other day he was sick and i tracked down a number for him on the internet she called his mom answered and asked why do you care if he is sick you haven't tried to see him ( ok calm down people i had to, she must be sick to tell a young lady why hasn't she tried to find her dad when he only lived 3 miles from his daughter its his fault) my girl said when she was younger she remember that he said he had a will and insurance money for her. How would you find all the info on this if you don't talk to the other family members

come on be honest, she only wants his dosh. if she was like 3 miles down the road, how come she didn't track him down then, maybe he was too sick to look for her, she soon tracked him down now she knows he's dead & may have money for her.

There has to be an executor to the will. Either that person will contact the daughter directly or she will receive a registered letter. if that does not happen, then nothing was left for her. By law the executor has to put an ad in the local papers seeking any liens or outstanding debts before distributing the estate. Check the papers and back issues in the area around the date of the death. That will get you the name of who is in charge of the will. You can contact them, but it will probably be the mom unless there was a substantial amount of money. Regardless, if she is in the the will the executor has to practice due diligence in finding and notifying her. Other than that you'll just have to wait to see if there was anything left for her.

Without knowing what state you are talking about, and not knowing the laws for that state, is hard to give an answer. I know that in the states I have lived in, when a person dies with a Will, it has to be lodged with the Courts. All heirs have to be notified and the Estate has to be probated. It is a little different if he had a Trust vs a Will. The best course of action is to consult with a probate attorney in your state and find out what the laws are there. If you can't afford that, you can possibly google probate laws for your state.
Good Luck.

If she is named in the will, and the will is a legal document that was done she will be notified by the executor. There is no place to go and see stuff like that on-line or in any kind of government office since these are private documents. If she knew of his attorney's name that drew up the will or the name of the executor she could contact them to let them know where to locate her. She should watch the newspaper in case they do a legal notice of his passing and solicting her information.

I believe that when a person dies his/her will has to go to Probate. Ask your Lawyer, he probably can get you a copy.
