Recently the check engine light came on, along with after my speeds are over 65mph my pb ( power brakes) lights come on, along, with my traction control. I have had it looked at, but the mechanic said, not to worry about it. Now I'm having some sounds from my lifters clanking, can somebody tell me some good diagnoses on whats going on with this?

I have a 98 windstar with 260,000 miles on it and it runs like brand new. But mine has the 3.0 and not the 3.8 engine. The 3.8s were known to have problems. The engine light could be on for a hundred reasons. You need to get to a better mechanic who has the computer equipment needed to scan your systems and pinpoint the causes. You have many problems that need to be addressed. Don't go to a dealer, they are too expensive. But do find a good independent garage who comes highly recommended in the neighborhood and has the right stuff to make an accurate diagnosis. The check engine light will come on for even the slightest problem, but it could be a biggie. You need to get it checked.

Could be a variety of items, however you might want to change out your oxygen sensor, your alternator might also be malfunctioning causing any brake system warning lights. Knocking could be timing belt wear especially if you have high mileage.
The Main problem however is that you are driving a Ford Windstar which is not a vehicle with a history of extended life. Start thinking about another vehicle!
