i m nt being sarcastic, i mean. for people u say are very very religious are mostly engrossed in their rites and rituals (going to their temple once a week, celebrating festivals, murmuring scriptures, cladding ); and the main motive of a religion that is to love god and get salvation, is all lost.
people dont even remember gods even in these occassion, they are more concentrated on meeting people, dressing, eating.

People seriously are so pre occupied with all such things that the deep secrets of truth and knowledge remains unrealized

I believe in God which happens to be a religion.

Religion does not have to be "rituals, temple once a week, festivals, murming Scriptures, cladding" as you said. Religion is loving God and receiving the gift of salvation.

A relationship with God is a religious status.

You are using the connotative meaning of religion and not the denotative meaning of religion.

I believe in god..I used to be an active catholic but I got pregnant to my boyffriend of a the time 2 yrs. now ts 7 yrs. and I was 17 then...although I chose pro life and had my child which would be the right thing to do in the situation everybody sins all you can do is try to do the right thing in the future since you can't change the past... but the leaders of the sunday school didn't want me to go to confirmation because they felt I disgraced the parish and they wanted to kick me out of sunday school and there were a lot of rumors and nasty things said about me behind my back...I felt that was not the way to show your christianity and the church of all places is the once place I thought I wouldn't be ridiculed so although my daughter is baptized catholic I do not attend church regularly but I do believe in god and pray I just don't see the point of going to church when the most important part of the sermon is who is wearing what and what this person did...that is not what I consider religion...hypocrites thats what they are!!! I practice religion in the privacy of my own home the way I see fit!!

All rites of formal worship in Islam are based on Divine revelation, while the modes of worship in other religions are a mixture of Divine revelation, man-made traditions, opinions of clergymen and religious councils. , in Islam acts of worship such as prayer and fasting have been described by God and His Prophet in such detail that it gives human beings a feeling of assurance that the way they are worshipping God is pleasing to Him.

In other religions, even the ones which claim belief in "One God", people often approach God through an intermediary, such as a saint, an angel, the Virgin Mary or Jesus. However, it is only in Islam that a person is required only to pray to God

in Islam there are no priests or clergy -- each worshipper, man or woman, has a direct relationship with their Merciful Creator -- Almighty God. Since God is the Owner and Sustainer of everything, as well as the only one who can provide true and complete forgiveness, it is completely futile to try to approach Him through anyone else.

Well A Christian is supposed to believe in the Church He started with Peter the Rock. It's been the Universal Church established by Christ Himself. Does anyone know what Church that is? Hint: Peter is buried in Rome and St. Peter's Cathedral is built right on top of his tomb. Can't be all the other Churches because some of them didn't start until the early 1400s and everyone else started later. That was 1400 years after Christ started the Church. Hint 2: Peter was the first Pope. Hint 3: St. Matthew lived in a cave in Iraq and started the Ottoman Catholic Church. I know because I lived for a year near that cave.

this is a very interesting question, because i have personal issues with religion vs. God.

i very deeply believe in God. and i like to consider myself a religious person. i go to church weekly. i attend lenten and advent wednesday services. i am active in my church, and try to show others my love for God and what He has done in my life.

BUT

i also consider myself to be against organized religion. i believe the church (physical, not spiritual) is incredibly corrupt. i believe what the bible says about tithing (giving ten percent to the church) but i also think the church has taken the whole "give us your money" a bit too far.

i also think that as you have mentioned, it has become more of a social affair.. meeting people, etc.... and whoever brings the most new people gets the most points...

think about this. although God may have created the church, does that mean man can not have deeply corrupted and shaped it to what he wants out of it?

god i hope this 'rant' has made some sense to anyone other than myself..

Religion is a set of rules and rituals to make the OUTWARD person APPEAR holy. The Pharissees were Religious, yet were rotten to the core on the inside.

Religion as a practice is repulsive, however RELATIONSHIP with God is divine. Religion is about works and in so being, attempts to void our salvation through Christ

if you subscribe to religion, then you subscribe to this:
Matt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Most religions I would absolutely hate to follow. The good religions I tolerate, but I believe in no religion, except for this one:
Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

I do not believe in religion, as mankind defines it, I believe in God. Keep in mind that God is truth, and those who are seeking the "deep secrets of truth" will find out that what they are really looking for is God.

If religion is designed as the community of fellowship, then I believe in both. If religion has become rites and rituals done by rote, then no I believe only in God. Ultimately God is the highest thought to maintain.

You are right the Bibile does talk about what you are feeling so to let you know there are alot of christians that are blinded by religon but until there eyes are opened up unto the truth of God. I believe in God,Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit and how the Spirit will teach you about the scriptues of God it even says the deep things of God but the blindness of religon hurts alot of Christians.

Religion is a tool to understand and translate God. Every one has a different point of view, but not necessarily all are wrong. Some make sense to me, others make sense to you. God in my opinion is impossible to be understood by our human mind, however that doesn't mean He doesn't exist. We all choose how to understand Him and see Him, and everyone is right according to each other's experiences in life. I have had experience with the parallel world, but I can't make you believe in what I have experienced if you haven't experienced that yourself. We share what we believe and that's it. Unfortunately, things get bad when fanaticism gets into the picture, and that makes people force their opinion, force to convert others and so on...

Peace!
