This is one of the main reasons that we need to change the 14th amendment.
As well as (or at least should) know, the 14th amendment was written so that it insured that Blacks would be recognized as being citizens of the US, something that was denied them although they were born in the country. In short, it states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Illegal immigrants (also immigrants who come here on visas knowing full well that their babies are soon to be born) take advantage of this law, which has been misinterpreted to mean that any person born on US soil is a citizen, with the courts not giving any credence to the section of the law that reads "subject to the jurisdiction thereof." The reason that this was written into the law was to ensure that what is happening today would not happen.
So in short, no, judges should not consider the interests of the children of who are born US citizens because, basically, they aren't really US citizens. Do judges consider the interests of children whose parent, or parents, are dealing drugs (or any other offense which requires punishment) and are sent to prison?; hardly, if ever.

However, the parents should consider their children's best interests, before building a life here when one or both of them are here illegally.
Illegals intentionally have kids to make it harder to be deported. Under no circumstances should we reward that with success.

Their parents committed crimes. They should not be separated and sent home to their country of origin with their parents! This is Unlike African Americans that were brought here in slavery. African Americans were granted Citizenship. Illegal Aliens willfully crossed the border. I admit that some have been mistreated, and surrendered themselves to slave like conditions and still is not the same as slavery or peonage! The 14th Amendment is being grossly mis- interpreted!

In the best interests of the children and to keep families together, they should be deported along with their illegal parents. The 14th Amendment needs to be amended to state that at least one parent must be a US citizen or legal resident in order to apply for US citizenship for a child born in the US.

No.... and in most countries just being born in that country is not grounds for citizenship. The parents have to do it the legal way. Those parents are those who deserve to be Americans and take their family.... and the example it sets to be most important.

NO!!!!!!!! Having a kid here is not an automatic road to citizenship. Deport the parents AND the kids. The kids can come back when they are adults.
We should NEVER reward criminals for their ILLEGAL acts. Illegal aliens are criminals because they are breaking the law.

Not any more than they do the children of legal Americans that are sent to prison. A crime is a crime,and although there may be mitigating circumstances,having children isn't one of them. yes the children are innocent ..
but the parents arent.
Reunite illegal parent with their children and deport them to their home nation as the law requires.

We should repeal the law that allows the children of illegal aliens to become citizens automatically. These are called "anchor children". The law is being abused.

NO, this would just encourage more illegal immigrants coming over and having thier children. Children that will take up more of our taxes, as well as their parents.
The government should do nothing to reward illegal behavior.
