We are still encouraging immigration.
Just legal immigration, so we don't get the law-breaker types.

Sorry, but the country was not built on immigration labor, more like Black slave labor (unless you want to call Blacks immigrants, which is absure in itself).
And we do need fences to keep people out who shouldn't be here. What's the difference between bulding a fence around a house and a country. Both serve a purpose, don't they?
Also, nobody's demonizing foreigners, just the ones who are here illegally; thus, having no right to be here.

Isn't it ironic that a Mexican can enter this country illegally and then demand the rights of a legalized citizen and call it demonizing foreigners. They can work without paying taxes, get free medical care, free legal representation, free prison provisions, (It is my understanding that in Mexican prisons personal items are not providee for free such as soap etc.)free social security, free education, free 911 assistance, and free housing clothing and groceries from a variety of organizations. Of course the United States is obligated to provide for Mexican citizens and any other country whose citizens wish to enter illegally without going through the legal immigration process like many other people do and squat on us. If you are going to come into this country illegally at least learn to speak English so your illegal demands are heard correctly. By the way, didn't I hear that Mexico is going to build a huge wall along it's southern border to keep out the mass immigration of South Americans rushing the border? Since most of the Mexicans prefer to work here couldn't Mexico use more people to help fill all of the work vacancies left by the workers coming to the USA? Hmm...

No, I think it´s ironic that the very foundations on which we were built (immigrant labor) are now hurting us and no longer beneficial. The fence doesn´t demonize foreigners. It only attempts to send a message to illegal aliens.

You're right. America should realize the money they are lossing by making it hard for people to immigrate or work legally here in the US. Come to think of it if they just allow these people to enter legally, they could have gotten a large amount from taxes from this illegally hired individual.
America is an immigrant nation, no race has the right to claim of it solely for their race or country. All of us are in one way or another were once immigrants and foreigners too in this land. Stop building fences and welcome immigrants with open arms.

No. Immigration labor from where? Mexico? LOL! I remember Mexicans showing up to do other things besides farmwork about 25 years ago. The country was already a nuclear-industrial superpower by then.

Nope..... as America is catching up with the rest of the world. Immigrants who came to america previously came here legally in accordance to whatever the laws were at the time.
They came intending to integrate and be lawfull and for a better life. Most insisted that their kids learned to be americans and speak the language.
Besides..... there are millions of people who want to come to america but can wait to do it properly. Thats why you see Indians who were doctors, asians who own stores, etc. These are the people america wants.

I built a fence around my property to protect my family and my home/ranch from being trespassed upon by unlawful intruders . I protect what is rightfully mine . The laws of my nation say I have that right. My country also has that right and that obligation to its legal citizens. Protect this nation from intruders. No one has /is demonizing anyone. But you cant in all good conscious believe that you have any "RIGHT" to enter this nation via illegal means and expect to be welcomed by all its citizens.
This nation was built by legal Americans that came from many different parts of the world. America citizens built this nation.
We have had border fences for a long time on certain parts of both borders. They aren't new,and where they are erected they do slow or stop illegal aliens crossing in the area where the fence is . Sure they go around them but if we had more fences they finally would run out of places to "go around" I'm all for building fences on both borders to control the influx of illegal aliens in to this nation.
A guest worker program that had real rules and regulation and limitations would be welcomed ,but not demands for "rights" they have no legal "right " to have.

Isn't it ironic that you have forgotten that most immigrants were processed through Ellis Island and they had to have papers, have a sponsor and also, a job waiting for them?
Isn't it ironic that ill-educated, non-literate villagers, who add nothing to the economy except crime and loss of services for citizens are equated with law abiding, usually college educated, productive legal immigrants?
The comparisons are not even close.
What most of us don't like, is the attitude of the south of the border immigrants (the illegals and legals who propose such things) whereby they actually say, quite frequently "that we are not illegally crossing a border, since California and the southwest are really Mexican territory".
Learn some history.
Read the papers and listen to the very damaging crap coming out of the illegal immigrant "rights" proponents.
