Will we have to change our tactics in a war against Iran, seeing how they now posses the super sonic sizzler missile that renders our carriers completely defenseless

I actually am extremely familiar with the Sizzler (SS-N-27B), and I will tell you what I can because I read the news article and laughed the whole time.
Firstly, YES, Iran does have it. And yes, they have plenty of Subs to launch it.
Secondly, the cool thing about the super-sonic delivery vehicle for this weapon and all of its "carrier killing" manuevers it makes prior to impact is that 9.9 times out of ten, the airframe fails and it crashes into the ocean (only test fired a handful of times, each time experiencing airframe failure). It's true performance is only in theory, not in reality.
Thirdly, the U.S. navy has been developing workable tactics to counter this threat for a decade...ever since they found out it was being developed. We do have some tactics that may work....but the only way to know for sure is to have one launched at us so we can try to kill it.....but like I said, no-one can get it to actually hit a target!
Fourth, a U.S. Carrier is NEVER sitting out there alone. Absolutely no missile can be a carrier killer...because the other ships WILL be between the missile and the carrier.
This Sizzler thing has really been blown out of proportion by the media. No, we can't publish a viable counter - tactic as of yet...but keep in mind, it has never been launched from a sub, as it is designed to be....and it has never flown super-sonic and done all of its 'carrier killing' turns and twists without falling apart halfway through htem.

That is great for China many are saying Iran has it. I do not think Iran has a Sub Navy. the Fuzzy Logic controlled super missle is very dangerous if launched close. "Sacrifical lambs" may negate it.

I stand corrected they have around 3 subs....today.

Yes, there is the French/Italian SLAT (Ship-Launched Air-Targeted) defense system specifically designed for aircraft carriers against torpedos and low flying enemy missles.

I would wait before panicking. First of all the news media always overestimates the effectiveness of the threat and underestimates our abilities. (Remember that fear sells newspapers.)

Next you have to remember that we have no accurate information regarding the true performance of this weapon.

And finally - a huge 'red flag' should be the fact that this weapon is being identified only by a nickname - not by nomenclature or NATO reporting name. This causes me to suspect that this missile may exist only in the mind of a graphic artist.

War with Iran is probably not going to happen anytime soon. By the time the American Public is stupid enough to vote for another war monger like Bush; Iran will probably be armed with Nuclear weapons (if they aren't alreasdy) which is the ultimate deterrant.
