Recently, I was able to get over my ex decisively, but there was another guy lurking in the wings who pushed me to get over him. He is a wonderful man, in terms of character, and I find him attractive, but I am not sure (1) about my feelings for him; or (2) about what I want right now. I do not wish to lead him on (we were going out when he made me break this off, as he realized I was rebounding and not necessarily interested in him), but I also do not wish to lose the chance of getting together with somebody of such high moral fiber and character whom I respect. What should I do?

If this guy really is worth his salt and cares about you, he will understand your feelings and will be patient while you take your break and asssess your feelings. Those are important, and if he's as great as you think, he will understand and will be sensitive, otherwise you will be cheating yourself. Above all, be honest and communicative with him. Respect is good in a relationship but love is more important, because it is what holds two people together.

Go on a 1-2 week vacation by yourself. Think things over and then make a decision. Do not tell the guy about any of this until AFTER your return and are ready to decide.

Yikes, you keep talking about his character. Are you attracted to him as a MAN?
The rest is great, but if you are not sexually attracted to him, your relationship is doomed. Let him go as soon as you know if you are not attracted sexually, so he can find a girl who is. Believe me, if you attach yourself to a guy because of his character and not also because of physical attraction, YOU WILL REGRET IT. You will cheat yourself and you will cheat him. Keep looking, and accelerate the pace that you meet guys. Do online dating, get out to every event where you could meet a great guy, get your friends to set you up. Just don't stay with a guy you admire but do not love.

Just tell him exactly what you've told us. That you think he's a good man, and that you see the possibility of something in the future, but that you need some time to yourself right now.

If you set him aside to just be friends so you can have some space , you stand a good chance of losing him...
