I'm replacing factory speakers and I was looking for a good deal on some great sounding, crisp, clear speakers for listening to mostly acoustic music (no heavy bass needed). I was thinking Memphis

Wow, your head unit only pushes 16watts? on 4 channels i presume? as for the front/rear speakers, go for more high tone speakers, since you have plenty of bass you want something to average it out so the music is perfect quality. Look into speakers with a higher frequency range and get speakers with soemwhere between 40-50+ rms both front and rear (front if supported) deffinatly go with 6 and a halfs my friend but make sure you have an equel ballance of higher frequency response speakers so that you can equel out the ballance from the bass, and as mentioned you will need more rms than 16rms and i would suggest getting an amp for that because if your running 4 6 and 1/2's at 50rms then you will need an amp that can put out 4 channels at 50rms but be sure as you know not to overload the rms otherwise you will blow your speakers. Best of luck buddy, ~Jeff

Achieving great sound is more than just choosing a new pair of speakers. If you want great sound, don't bother replacing your speakers and have them run off of head unit power.

Look for a good set of components ($200+ new) and feed them at least 100 watts RMS with a good quality aftermarket amplifier ($200+). The difference in power is night and day. And remember to deaden your doors.

For components, look through MB Quart, Boston Acoustics, Alpine (Type X only), Focal, JL Audio.
For amps... just about any decent quality amplifier will do.

not sure what really on the market where you are but went to car audio shop and tried a dozen or so when got my new ones and found kicker ones to be great sound and value.
But depends on budget really these wasnt top of the range but gave great sound for a mid price range speaker.

I don't know about Memphis. They look sort of "ultra-premium" or something. $50-60 a pair on speakers is more than enough for me.
