There must be lots of ways, some working for you better than it might for others. Yoga and zen buddhist meditation are two of the ways I have found from personal experience. But still, like a relationship, you have to work on it constantly, despite whatever you decide is the non-medication approach that works best for you.

I also recommend swimming. Besides the fact that it is the only sport that actually uses every muscle in the body, and that physical exercise does address depression - it also releases enzymes from the brain. These enzymes, are what experts in the field refer to as 'natural highs'. Finally, don't laugh - these enzymes are found in chocolate too. Just don't pig out on the latter.

By doing 1 thing good for yourself everyday, you could write lists of all the great healthy things like sunshine, walks, music, gentle exercise, socialising, hot baths etc. The reality is small steps just start out easy it gets better, remember though for major depression just trying these cant cure it, whether people like it or not sometimes medication is very necessary.

Exercise! Rigorously!

It takes some time though. About 3 months worth did the trick for me as a teenager.

exercise. try yoga. or get your thyroid checked, sometimes if your thyroid levels are too low, it can make you feel sleepy and depressed, among other things.
