The IRS has different locations from which the refunds are sent. They've been yellow in the past, but that could change any given year.

The IRS refund comes from many different places and the envelope mine came in this year was white:)

IRS checks are injected into the postal system from a number of processing centers around the country. The envelopes have never been yellow, at least in my lifetime. They've always been manila (tan).

They are mailed from locations all over the country. My taxes were received in a manila envelope when I actually received paper checks... have e-filed and used direct deposit since I figured out how fast my returns get to me from doing so!

EFILE & USE DIRECT DEPOSIT!!! =) You will thank me for that piece of advice one day...
