For instance the a thermostat may be set at 20 degrees centigrade, and the control panel may provide the power for the thermostat but only if the control panel aprameters have been satisified e,g an internal timer for the heating to come at 6 am.

Thats a simple example and most HVAC systems are reasonbly simple. For a more complex system then triplex or quadraplex lift controls are far more intricate and still evolving for more destination control

The control panel on a HVAC unit, or any other electrical device for that matter tells you the total Watts, Volts, etc. that are going to be able to supplied or used by that particular unit.

a control panel is the cabinet which contains all the switchgear for the associated plant, the electricity supply, fuses, control gear (contactors, relays, timers and/or computerised control systems) will all be located within the control panel.
