Dawn works real well but it will dry the skin out.You will nead to use a conditioner or youre dog will start scratching for a diffrent reason. Best bet get biogroom flea and tick (at pet edge.com) bomb house and yard same day. That will rid fleas all around. Out side fleas will come in on a clean dog and wreck all of you work cleaning it

I heard it was Dawn dish soap, never tried it. But I did try this and I was amazed at the results.
Take a shallow tin pie dish add 1/2 cup water and 3 or 4 drops of Dawn dish soap.
Place a small lamp on the floor and turn it on.
Put the tin pan beside the lamp.
If there are fleas in your carpet they will be attracted to the heat from the lamp, jump in the water and die.
I don't know if the Dish soap is what kills them or if they just drown but it will let you see if your carpets need treated.

Actually the Dawn brand dish liquid does actually kill fleas! Be sure and get the mild formula and don't let the dog drink it or get it in their eyes! I tried this on my three puppies after I brought them home! They were covered in fleas and too young for the flea killing stuff from the store! Believe me... they have not had a flea since. It is safer than the over the counter flea drugs... no chemicals!

Much safer is salty water. Wash the dog down with about 3 tablespoons of salt to a gallon of water. You will see the dead fleas falling off as you do it. Then rinse the dog well.
You won't get rid of fleas if you don't treat the house too, for the eggs that hatch out about every 10 days. Vaccuum well and use a flea spray or bomb. Wash all bedding.

in fact, Dawn and Joy along with most anti grease liquid dish soap does kill fleas but it also removes the natural oil in the dogs coat which is essential to healthy skin. Using dish soap causes extreme dry skin issues which can be hazardous to the dogs health.

no...i dont see how dish soap would kill fleas. Flea collars work well and at the grocery store you could probably buy a spray.

NO it is NOT true and it can kill the dog. Please do not bathe the dog in dish soap. Go to the Vet and get some flea preventive.

it kills the fleas, but don't use it directly on the dog. you comb them with a flea comb and then you drop the flea into a cup of water and dish soap. to kill fleas on dogs use advantix or frontline. My personal favorite is advantix, because it protects against fleas ticks and mosquitos, whereas frontline only protects against fleas and ticks.

No it doesn't and regular soap can cause serious allergic reactions in some dogs. The vet knows the best med that will protect your dog and his/her advice should be followed.
