...that it isn't in the bible that you must be baptized in water. I'll have to argue that it does. Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

Ok JC...What about it? It all goes hand in hand. But Jesus gave detailed instruction how we were to do it. And after he rose, He told the deciples what to teach and they did. And when Peter spoke what Jesus ahd instructed him to, on the day of penticost. 3,000 thousand soal were saved.

Or how about Romans 6, or Galatians 3:26, and Mark 16. and many others.

Jesus wasn't dead yet or had been risen from the dead. He had not come back and instructed the deciples what to teach. He had not sent the Holy Ghost at the time the theif was on the cross. No one before Jesus was baptized. But after He died He gave us instructions on what to do. But I'd have to argue that being baptized is apart of salvation. If Jesus said it...we are suppose to do it.

Well I'll end it on this note. There's a song the saints used to sing when I was a kid growing up in church..."Everybody talking about Heaven aint going." There was another as well..."I know the Bible is right and somebody wrong." And those songs pretty much cover the poeple on this subject in here.

...That verse, properly interpreted, means "be baptized, every one of you, because of the forgiveness of sins (which had already happened).
...Baptism is not necessary for salvation - if it were, how do you explain the thief on the cross who was saved dying there - when was he baptized in water - there is no record that he was.
...If you are saying that water baptism in some way contributes to our salvation, you are dead wrong. Jesus paid for it all. To suggest anything else, (like Jesus + tongues, or Jesus + baptism, or Jesus + me doing my best, Jesus + my good works) is heresy, must be rejected, and is an incredible insult to God whose Son paid for it all.
...Water baptism is commanded for all who have been saved, but not as part of our salvation or a means of salvation.
...1 Corinthians 15:1-4 says this:
...1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,
...2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
...3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
...4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
...That is the gospel.
...I urge you to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. (Acts 16:31)
...Whosoever will, may come.

ADDITION ====>>
...John the Baptist baptized many before Jesus.
...When we are saved, we are baptized in the Holy Spirit and baptized into Christ. That explains the Romans 6 passage and the Galations 5 passage. Water baptism is a type or picture of what has already occurred within a true believer's heart.
...We live in a free land and you can follow any kind of a Gospel you choose. It is your privilege to believe you can contribute some part to your salvation, but you are dead wrong. When Jesus declared on the cross, "It is finished!" - that was a marketplace term, meaning the debt is paid, paid in full.
...The salvation program you profess to believe, which is Jesus + water baptism to be saved, is a gospel foreign to the Bible.
...Again, I urge you to repent (change your mind) and believe on Christ alone for salvation; trust in His finished work on the cross.
...Whosoever will, may come.

Use the many other scriptures to talk about baptism but not the John 3 passage its not a unattested reference to baptism.

Actually the word baptizo means to submerge. A recipe from 200 BC says to baptizo a cucumber in vinegar until it is pickled.

Is this a holy war or bible quoting smack down? Wow....chastity.....was never for it. Maybe before the age of 16 but everything seemed to change after that.

Baptism is an ordinance given by the local church...

But it is not a requirement for salvation
