If reared properly they can be wonderful companions. They are extremely intelligent and seem to sense your moods. They are almost human like...they insist on being part of the family instead of a pet. they want to eat when you eat, watch tv with you, hang out with you. some birds learn to talk which makes them a complete hoot to be around. because they seem to say the right thing at just the right time. some are clowns and just alot of fun to be around. they are long time companions that usually outlive their human family. even though they make great pets they are a huge responisibility. they take up a huge amount of your time. cleaning cages, feeding daily, cooking for them...yes you have to cook for them. they are not a pet that you can just let go for a 8 hours a day and then come home and they are fine. most birds need to be out of their cage interacting with their family for the better part of the day.

If you are asking this question you have not done your homework. They are good for those that will commit to a lifetime of love and care small parrots 20+ years large 50+ years. If you have the patience to train a cat you may be able to handle a bird .

Parrots are very social creatures in the wild. Because of this they will bond with humans. They are relatively easy to feed and maintain. Other birds can be kept in captivity, but they don't interact the way parrots do.

They're really not, at least not to everybody. They require big enclosures, specialist veterinary care (which means, expensive), they can be very loud, require a lot of interaction or they get easily bored and develop OCD, they try to be the alpha bird, need balanced diets to stay healthy (they don't live on sunflower seeds only like many ppl think)......
For a person that has the time and commitment, they can be great pets. They get attached to humans and see you as part of their flock, they are beautiful, they are exceedingly smart and can learn tricks, their poo is not as stinky as mammals, only animal you can talk to and expect a response :-)

Well, they are beautiful birds. They can be trained to do lots of things, tricks... they can be taught to talk. You can leave them freely around the house. They are cute because they use their beak to climb up and to eat. Parrots are just adorable.

They r good and talk. They r really cool to keep around the house and u know they can keep u company. THEY TALK!!!!!!!!!!!! So u should get one.
