I follow the Buddha's teachings which are also about peace and love. As a Liberal (I hate these labels) I think it takes courage to stand up for human rights abuses or any type of abuse. But if we really all talked to each other about our concerns (cons and libs) we'd probably find we have more in common than we think.

Well, interesting way to look at it. Many liberals are christians. There are many conservatives who are not christians. What many people do not realize is that the vast majority of Americans are neither Democrat or Republican. They are that group known as Moderates. Most people sit somewhere in the middle of it all.
As for myself, I am an atheist and a libertarian. I am socially(abortion, gay marriage, etc.) very liberal, but pretty conservative when it come to politics(ie. states rights, smaller government, less taxation, limited social welfare, etc.) and economics.

All carrots are roots. All roots are not necessarily carrots.
Actually, following your example, all carrots are not even necessarily roots!
In other words, neither are all liberals Christians, nor are all Christians liberals.
Both liberals and conservatives have values that are Christian, and other values that are opposed to Christianity.
The Conservatives (are supposed to) have Christian family values.
The liberals are supposed to have the Christian values of tolerance, acceptance, and caring for the poor, the weak, and the afflicted.
But even if one of those groups had values that were totally compelling for Christians, that would not mean that all those belonging to the group were Christian. (Don't they teach any logic in school? Even my geometry theorems would have helped me with that!)

Conservative standpoint--Do everything you can to avoid conflict, but sometimes there is no choice but to take affirmative action.
Liberal stand point--do anything and everything to make republicans and conservatives look bad(it's our only hope).
They would have us our country destroyed and everyone on it erased to fuel their political agendas.
Somewhere around 75-80% of liberals are atheists. Doesn't this tell you something about the way they think?
God never said 'don't protect your families and your countries from evil' in fact, He said the opposite.

As you can see most liberals are not Christians and they believe in the ways of the world not in God so no to me that would make them very weak all power comes from God.

Go to the GLBT section and see your fellow Christians following Jesus' teachings.
I am a very strong peace loving liberal and NOT a Christian.

I like your question, but linking it to Jesus's teaching lost me. Study other religions and you'll see that his teachings are common amongst religions older than Christianity. Buddha was saying those things 500 years before him.

Jo,
It is my understanding that many liberals believe that abortion is a woman's right. That just doesn't seem very Christian in my mind. How do you see them as lining up at all? Have a great day and a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

Nope. People interpret the Bible their own way. So while you see peace, others see being being a soldier for God.
