You need to seek "salvation" and you do that with repentance

Salvation and atonement are the same thing. If a Christian has made a true confession, he will then seek to follow his Savior by righteous living - by turning away from his sinful nature. We were taught by Jesus to always pray to the Father and ask forgiveness for our sins. We strive to overcome the old man and put on the new in our daily life. That is why Christianity is not a religion per se, but a Way (of living) .

(religion is the practice of ceremony in order to try to attain holiness through works - which Christians do not believe is possible. We are saved through grace, not of ourselves, salvation is a gift of God)

Let's clarify something. It is not an "If." Salvation does erase our sin. It does so, not because we are not guilty, but based upon the fact that through His sacrifice, Jesus Christ has fully met the punishment required for that sin. In other words He has already atoned (propitiated - met the requirements for the punishment) for our sins.

So, for you or me to atone for sin would mean that we had not accepted Jesus' death as our own. For some reason, we would feel that we must pay for our own sin, rather than have someone else pay for it. The problem is, the payment for sin, whether one sin or many ( and all have sinned and fallen short of revealing the Glory or perfection of God whose image we are to bear) is eternal death. So no one could atone for their own sin apart from death and eternal separation from God.

That is why the Son of God had to die, which is what Good Friday and Easter are all about.

The salvation thing about Jesus or anybody else's offering to save you from your sins must not be considered true. Ezekiel 18:3-26 Had been clearly declared by God that 'He who sins is the one who dies." Read it for your information so you would not be deceived by a false teachings. If the religion is talking about the sins of Adam and Eve or what call "Original Sin", it was long time ago that it was cleared right after the Exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land and the offering was successfully made by Moses. That was also why In Deuteronomy 24:16 God first mentioned about the sins of the father must not be inherited by the sonsand vice versa. Jesus savings souls is therefore unnecessary and false.

Salvation is brought about by atonning and atoning is the erasing of your sins.

Christ already atoned.

We need to try are best to remain faithfull, repent and have faith, charity and love for each others once we know of him and his true church.

In my religion we kind of atone every week by taking part of the sacrement and renewing are covenants everyweek and trying again the next.

We could never atone for others or are selves. It is through the atonement of christ that we are able to repent of are own sins but not others. That is why faith in Christ is essential. Because if we do not believe in him or his atonement how can we be saved?

How can we remove are sins weekly if we do not believe?

Faith in Christ takes time, practice and faith.

Atonement - The price has been paid - All we have to do is ask for forgiveness.

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. {atonement: or, reconciliation}
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

As "atone" is usually used to mean to pay a price to make things right with God, no. That was already done. All they need to go is confess (admit the sin), repent (quit doing it) and receive the forgiveness.

If you mean "restitution", where you make things right with a person involved, yes. A Christian still has to apologize, repay if there is monetary value involved (theft, damage, etc) and whatever is needed to make things right with the other person.

It depends on what you mean when you say "salvation". It is a process, not a point in time. There is a turning point when you repent, but salvation implies a life-long process. Read the book of Hebrews for enlightenment.

Excellent question !!!

You get salvation by believing that Jesus is your savior. So you don't have to atone. Do whatever you want, murder, rape, and what not, and you will enter paradise just by believing that Jesus is your savior.
