there is some new laws about work at height, if of course your house is two storey, then a builder will probably charge additional fee for scaffolding. so the cost will have increased considerably, compared to a few years ago.

Best to get three quotes, preferably from people that have been recommended to you, and then you will atleast have a good reference to go buy, make sure they include in the quotes for the paint, as external stone paint can be £40 per tub, and require rather a lot of them, depends on square meeterage, whether you have the house rendered and the type of render. You can request some better paint, which is guaranteed for 10 years, which makes it cheaper than getting it done again if a few years - though this paint has a price tag to match its longevity

If you get a builder to do it they charge lotta money.
About £450 for each wall.
Now normally there are three or four walls per house. So it can cost upto £2000 for the whole house.
The total cost of paint is no more than £200 for the whole house.
If you did it yourself you would save around £1800.00 but then spend a few hundred on hiring ladders/scaffolding and messy clothes.
Ask some unemployed guys to help you do the job and save pounds.

You need to weigh up pro's & cons of having this done.Do you have the time to do it?.Are you supplying the paint if someone does it for you etc,and how much it is likely to cost you if you have it done.Have it done when the weather is stable as this will help with speed of getting job done plus drying times between coats. As a decorator this would be my advice to you....Hope this helps.

Hi there,It's really your choice isn't it.Paying someone is expensive but saves you hassle,on the other hand if you can be bothered doing it yourself it's cheap.A few tins of masonry paint,A few large brushes,a roller and extension and an extension ladder is all you need, and some sheets.2 coats of paint and do it in the summertime when the weather is good.
