I think the UK should just tell them - returm the soldiers by such and such a date or we will launch a trident your way and explode it over your city about 25 miles up . That electro magnetic pulse will take out your military communications and every other electric gadget for a few miles.

The second one will be placed differently.

If they comply and give back the soldiers no harm done - If they don't give the Americans a few days to pull back and well - whatever

Acutally, they do have nuclear facilities. Nobody including the Iranians denies that, so Completelysurrounded... is just ignorant for claiming they don't. The disagreement is whether or not the facilities are a cover for nuclear weapons...

It is not a declaration of war, but it is an act of war, which can be legal justification for a declaration and wartime response. Of course, the governments will attempt to find a diplomatic resolution to this first.

The most interesting point was the proposition that this was done to embarass their president and prevent his trip to the UN. I hadn't heard that yet, and it could be true...

EDIT: all the non-partisan reports including critics of the US, UK, and west have reported that the sailors were still in Iraqi waters, not Iranian waters. The only ones saying otherwise are the Iranians and other supporters of their radical Islamic attacks on the west. All honest and responsible sources correctly state that the Iranians did illegally seize the sailors.

Yes it is, but unfortunately our country does not have the resolve to fight a war anymore. Most people do not know any history about past conflicts and are easily lead by the politics of the "meat is murder" and "actorvist" crowd. If they did they would know that in Nazi Germany there was an active insurgency for 7 years and Okinawa still has American troops stationed there since 1945. Besides we all have to face the fact that the middle east saves a fortune on spies and agents thanks to our "news" outlets that do not report but rather air and print bad war news compared to good at a rate of 9 stories to one. If todays spineless will was transplanted back in time then we would have never fought WWII after the Phillipines let alone won. Iran knows we will not fight because we have cries for impeachment and virtual political sit ins from the left, our very own socialist party, our weakness is evident every evening on the news.

Here we go again, the nuclear deterrent do you remember that's what we call it. Use it and thousands of innocent people will be killed. Bombs don't just kill the bad guys they kill babies too. do you honestly think that they would then meekly hand over the captured soldiers. No they would publicly execute them in retribution. So what do we gain, we still lose the captured soldiers, we alienate the entire middle east which is already a powder keg. the United Nations would also condemn us for an illegal action, we had enough trouble getting the allies onside in Iraq this time there would be no chance. Don't forget that the fundamentalist Muslims do not think like us we are prepared to die in battle. They WANT to die in battle. Drop the nukes and you will be triggering the war which at last may end all wars. If there is no one left alive maybe there would be peace on earth. God help us all.

yes it should be seen as an act of war. the iranian revolutionary guard have illegally kidnapped 15 of our allied naval personel, and that should be seen as an act of war. we have been patient enough with irans behavior, it is time for military intervention, and a complete re establishment of irans government.
A country that kidnapps allied personel of a world power must be very stupid and arrogant. they have no idea what they have done, and we are one step closer to war. first defiance, then insurgent arms sellings, then insurgent training and now kidnapping. enough is enough it is time we show them we will not allow them do these outrages things ever again. and we have already demanded that the 15 allied servicemen be released, and british diplomats are not allowed to enter Iran. thats suspicious, and also iran claims they are being held in a secret facility, why would it have to be secret unless they are hideing something.

The president of Iran has been egging on a full strike ever sense he was elected and now the Iranian people and their government are wishing they hadn't voted him in. The government is trying to kick him out 18 months early. He's a terrorist and they don't want him there any more. Can you blame them?

I just hope they can last long enough to kick him out. The people of Iran don't deserve to be killed because of his terroristic stupidity.

The Queen, 10 DOLLARS A GALLON, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK THE BRITISH ARE PAYING ALREADY?
Hi Jo.
What I don't understand is, Obviously the British Gov. know that the particular lump of sea is in dispute, therefore why the fcuk do they allow the Navy to dump a bunch of sailors in the drink aboard a rib (of sorts) when they know full well a foreign ship is in the area ( Don`t they have radar, satellite pics). and know full well what will happen. Not only that, are you telling me that the British Navy didn`t know,( Don`t they have radar, satellite pics) and that the Capt. let some of his crew go for a boat ride to be a bunch of patsies?

It is not a declaration of war and it would be stupid on the part of the UK to do so.
Lob the missiles if you want, all that will do is ignite the powder keg that is the Middle East.
You think gas is expensive now, let them try that stupidity and watch it go to at least $10/gal.
There are many dissenting factions within the Amadenijad government and this was possible something that was done to embarass him before he was to go to the UN It worked, he did not go. There is infighting taking place there, let them destroy themselves from within.
You are also not realizing that it suits some people to have volatility. It makes good money.
I am not surprised that this happened also because there has been a movement towards a mid east peace summit.
Every time a summit or an agreement is close to being brokered, some monkey wrench comes up to derail it because it does not suit some people's purposes.

Don't talk such stupid nonsense to suggest that what the Iranians did merits a declaration of war. We had this same problem 3 years ago and it was sorted out by diplomacy. I am not a lover of Iran, ButIf our marines were in Iranian waters, then under the rules of war, Iran has every right to arrest them. how do you think we would react if an Iranian craft was off the coast of britain. Now, ask yourself what were those marines doing in iranian waters. They know if they are inside the three mile limit or not. And do not underestimate Irans military capabilities to retaliate any type of attack from us or the Americans.

Absolutely. This IS a test to see how far Brittian and America's resvolve has been eroded by the anti-war cry babies. Brittian need to be very strong and forceful at this time to show them they are not weak. If they don't they'll know the insurgency is winning their part of the conflict.
