Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

Not at all, but it could say that even though the characters go through terrible things, they they still have hope of something better in the end, when they are done living, if happily or otherwise.

Definitely not. in fact it says that we will face troubles

Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Eph 3:13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
2 Thes 1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

No, the bible no where promises us happiness. What we are promised is joy, hope and peace. Happiness is dependant on what happens in your life. Happiness is circumstantial. Joy and peace is what we recieve by our faith. Even those who knew they would die martyrs were full of joy in that they knew that "to live is Christ, to die is gain."

Our joy and our peace can not be taken from us by circumstances, it is a gift of God.
