Definitely love is the most powerful emotion. I don't consider hate as emotion. I believe hate is a reaction rather. Reaction that comes out of love when someone we love do something against our wishes or expectations. Nonethless it is intense

Love
Most people will do anything, including kill, for love. Even if it's misguided. People would be willing to kill someone who hurt their family, people would be willing to kill someone who "stole" their spouse. At the same time the love of someone or the love from someone can heal wounds, and make everything seem like it's okay.
The love for a child though I think is the most powerful of all.
Love is more powerful than hate because I don't think you can have hate without love.

Love... It is self-sufficient
A lot of people would say Anger, but it is dependent on other things or people to survive. You become angry because of events or people, and you must be around things or people for that mood to maintain.
On the other end of that, you can love being around people, or being by yourself. You can love no matter what.

I believe that hate is the most powerful. It is not an emotion that we have often but it can sometimes be very intense.
