In the case of a moderate stomach flu, should you try to prevent diarrhea or bring down a mild fever? Why or why not? What is the MOST important thing you should do for the patient?

When I had it I kept myself hydrated and took acetaminophen (Tylenol) for pain and fever. I did take anti-diarrhea medicine but quickly found out that it's just best to let it run its course. It only caused more pain. I couldn't stand the smell of food cooking and didn't have much of an appetite so all can say is just keep plenty of fluids on hand and eat soft foods. Avoid heavy foods and sauces. You'll regret it. Avoid the sugary drinks like fruit punch, sodas, and a lot of citric juices (they can make your stomach ache even more). They pedialyte. It even come in popsicles.

The most important thing is to make sure that they dont get dehydrated so trying to prevent diarrhea can be helpful with this along with plenty of fluids and rest. Also if they can hold it down you can give them some motrin for their fever but it can be hard on their stomach if it is empty from throwing up.
