...take out of the bible what works for them and say the rest doesn't apply? Lots of churches/denominations don't follow the same things. Last time I checked, pretty much all the bibles say the same thing. So if it's in the bible that you must be born again of the water(being baptized in Jesus' name) and the spirit(being filled with the Holy Ghost). Why don't all churches beleive it? It's in the bible with the rest of what they beleive...Just wondering

It is either all true or none of it is true. We were never given the freedom to pick and choose what we want out of the Bible. It's like baking a cake and choosing to leave out the flour - it just aint gonna fly.

We should not be divided - 1 Cor 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

It's kind of an evolutionary thing that stems from the first *churches* that broke ranks from the Catholics. Martin Luther was more a man of reason, so he objected to a lot of the literal aspects of the Bible. It's not just a Christian thing. If you look at Judaism you see the same thing, with the orthodox, reformed, Hassidic, etc.. And look at Islam. The Shia, the Sunnis, the Wahhabis, etc. The Bible is an allegorical work that is open to much interpretation. Most folk just go along with the beliefs they were indoctrinated with. That makes it very hard to *see* other people's point of view.

I have the same problem if the churches can't get along how can people see the love of God, we are suppose to be the examples of God. We have to follow the word of God and let the Spirit lead us through the scriptures, these scriptures are there for the interpitation of the Holy Spirit of God for our Personal wallk with God and to teach others what the Spirit has tought us that all that God asked of us is to encourage each other in the love of Christ, but we are here beating each up instead of helping each other in love.

Because being born in water and the spirit is not talking about being baptized and being filled with the holy spirit.

Being born of the water is a reference to your natural birth, so he is saying you must be born again, naturally and spiritually. And you are right that water immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit is the means to being born in the Spirit.

Upon being baptized you recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

It is my humble opinion...either it's all true and real or it is all false.

We don't get to pick and choose what to believe.

I believe the Holy Bible is 100% true, and to be more like Jesus, we need to follow the directions that it gives us.

Jesus had a focus on the Father, like no other. He was driven by His Father's work. I'm glad Jesus did the Fathers will. By His gift of salvation, I'm saved.

Because first off that is NOT in the Bible. No where does it say Baptisim of water is required to gain admittance into heaven. It does say however that we are to be Christ-like and Christ was Baptised.

Second, some people mis-quote or mis-understand (as you have done) and therefore cause confusion. (not meaning too--you just took being born again in the spirt for being born again from the baptisimal water.)

Third, somepeople take what suits them because they are hypocrites and take the easy road!

People sometimes interpret things according to their own understanding, which is also not what Christians are supposed to do. We all will have faults as long as we live, and those faults will always be evident in what we do. When it comes down to it, a lot of people won't know who's right about a lot of things until the next life.

Because they haven't decided which version of the Christian bible to use, or whether to follow what Jesus said versus what Paul said.

Oh, there are those who believe that the laws of the OT need to be followed versus those who think the teachings of Jesus need to be followed.

The Bible is outdated in many respects. For example, the Bible is very sexist and this needs to be updated to reflects modern times. No woman wants to live in the dark ages.

That's the exact thing that I was wondering. I am anti-denominational because it doesn't mention dividing yourself up into denominations in the Bible.
