Well when me and my brother where kids we got smacked not beaten just smacked on the bottem.And the best way to get me inline was to smack meon a bair bottem.
I remeber when my parents started spanking.it was when i was at my grandmas house with my mum and i was rude to her and my grandma took my hand and took me to the kitchen and took out a wooden spoon nelt down removed my skirt and pants and said if your mother spoke tome the way you did this is what she would have got...then she took me up to my mums old room and made me sit on the chair witch my mum used to have to sit on. i never misbehaved when she was around again i tell you. my kids get a smack bum as a last resort through love.
i am grateful to my grandmother as what she did changed the way i acted completly
i ask theparents who say i only give them a light tap...what would you call a light tap i would say that is mearly touching them and wouldnt have any affect. what is so wrong with smacking i also ask the parents who

who say they would only smack there child on the hand and never the bum why because it hurts more on the hand as there is not fat where as a bum is as some one said to me 'like a big cusion' and a friend said to me in the bible it says spare the rob spoil the child god made the bottem cushiony for this reason

i got smacked on the bottem when i was younger ouch
or when i kept running of the naughtey step i got a smack on the hand then i would start to wimper and told 'see its not funny is it, if you get up again you will get a good smack on the bottem' and as you would guess my bum stayed on there for the rest of the time out lol

im only 14 so i havent got kids but at the moment i think when i do have kids if they need a smack they will get one.

i find it funny thinking about some of my smacks and why i got them so it oviously hasnt done me any harm though im sure i didnt find it funny at the time lol
i also felt the wooden spoon on my bear butt it hurts i remeber but thats what you get for calling your brother a bit*h hay

I can't remember ever being smacked as a child, my mother has this voice that she uses, even now, that terrifies me. I could always tell when she meant business, I don't know how she does it, but she uses the same voice with my kids and it has the same affect on them. She always says that there is never a need to smack children. but unfortunately I disagree, nowadays, kids get away with murder, literally, and this is because the government took away a parents right to discipline their own children, they were too scared to smack them when they did something terrible, and so the child thinks that what they did was OK, so they continue to do the naughty thing knowing that they will get away with it, then they try something a little naughtier and as a result of the governments policy, that child doesn't get punished, and this goes on until such a time that the government must intervene in the sense that the young-offenders units across the country are filled up. and so on, and so on.
what I'm saying is that children should be smacked within reason of course, but, if the government are going to dictate to us about whether or not we can smack them then they should come up with an effective way to discipline them. and as I'm a parent of two lads myself, the short sharp lesson of a smacked bottom and an explanation of why they were smacked, works for me. my kids are very well behaved, and polite, they also know what the word "respect" means, and this is all because when they need to be smacked, they are smacked.
p.s notice I used the word NEED to be smacked and not DESERVE.

I got smacked a couple of times by my mum I must of been really naughty or being cheeky at the time, from what I can remember it didnt hurt but it was enough to make me sulk for a while. I havent got kids at the mo but when I do, yes I would give them a little smack if it was needed. I see kids sometimes when I am out and about and they are so naughty I think to myself I wouldnt have dared do that when I was little! There was no worse a crime than showing your parents up in public, where as now some people just dont seem to care.

If we were really bad we got a smack on the hand or in severe cases a smack bum (gentley, not over the knee).

I never smack my kids, naughty step works great for the little one (2 and half) and stopping internet/games for the eldest (9) works very well

Yes we got smacked when we were kids. If we were especially naughty we got smacked by my Dad. Typical case of wait till you father gets home. We were terrified for the rest of the day till he did get home. Poor man I feel for him as he returned from work oblivious to any problems and was told he had to smack us. I also think it was terrible on us and "the crime" could have been committed hours previously and I think it was cruel to punish us hours later. I have to say also that my brother and I were never even THAT naughty, just typical kids.

personally i think there is nothing wrong with a little smack on the bum when the child is very naughty and out of control. i used to get a smacked bum when i was little (not very often at all) and thats what used to stop my tantrums when i couldn't get my own way. Kids now a days are out of control and theres no discipline given to them, things will only get worse, look how the times have changed!

I got a few slaps when I was a child and it never did me any harm although I don't smack my daughter as my angry voice is enough to let her know she's been naughty!
