He is why.....I have a pending Felony charge for drugs, a very small amount but still a felony in the. I will do whatever it takes to get this clear. It's a long story, but because I was back in California with taking certain medical tests and school(I am a client of The Department of Rehabilitation), I was dropped from the Drug Diversion Program. I don't know if they will let me back on till I speak with my lawyer(Public Defender). So, can I still get some sort of break in dropping the charge if I go military?

If your wanting to get into the military you need to go and talk to the army or the natioanl guard. At the age of 36 you are going to be disqualified for other branches. The Army and National Guard go up to 42 years of age. Depending on what the felony is will have some play but they might be able to write a waiver...they can for most anything. Hope i helped.

The military won't take you for a variety of reasons at this point, if ever. But you could go talk to a recruiter and arrange to take the ASVAB test. And get the recriuters card. Then you could explain that your dream is to join the military and that you plan to do so immediately if you can. This may cause them to cut you some slack.

And for god sakes......... make sure you look as clean cut as you can!

And by the way the age limit is 42 for the Army.

The military will not accept someone with pending charges. You will have to have a court decision or the charges dropped before you can join. However, with your background the military would probably pass on you.

I don't think you can join any branch of the service with pending charges and I believe you are too old to join the Marines.

from what I've been told and hear, the enlistment age has been increased to 48, and if your attorney can work a deal with the judge, it is possible. As to which branch of the service, it would depend on who accepts you. Don't lie or fail to tell them the whole story. If they want you, they'll find a way to get you in, but if you forget to tell them something, and it is later discovered you will be kicked out and back at square one.

The military does not want you. There is a zero tolerance for drugs in the military.

I think that is the wrong reason to join the military. If they let you in, boy are you in for a shock.
