you know those hairs sticking out of your nose? those catch all the debris that happens to be flying through the air while you're breathing, without the hair all the booger junk would end up in your lungs instead. the fluid holding the debris together is the same stuff that makes up your tears. ever notice that your nose runs whenever you cry? the stuff running from the nose is excess tears. put it all together and give it a little time to dry out and you have boogers.

Your nose is a mucus membrane and a filter. The boogers are dried mucus containing particulate matter that the hairs in your nose and the membrane itself filtered out. They are there to keep that stuff from being inhaled into the lungs and causing illness. They're also fun to pick, flick, lick, and stick as you see fit.

Boogers are formed from sticky mucus that traps debris that enters your nose like lint, pollen, dust, skin cells, etc. The mucus is there to prevent pathogens from entering your body and making you sick.

Boogers are just pieces of dirt, dust, and other foreign bodies that your body has covered in mucos to protect you. In time, the mucos hardens and you get crusty boogers. If they stay deep in your mucos membrane area, they are moist untill you blow them out. Boogers are our friends...embrace them...love them.....give them a nice blow....LOL...

They are a conglomeration of sugars secreted from your body (which is why they are sticky), dead skin cells, and debris that you pick up from the air everytime you breathe in.
