I went to get my haircut yesterday, and I had specifically told the lady to LAYER my hair... she asked me how short and I said I wanted it shoulder length. So I sat there and thought "omg I can't wait, ectect". The lady was done in like.. 10 minutes MAX. I've never gotten a faster haircut in my life except for the time when my mom had it cut like a boy's. When I looked in the mirror, it wasn't anything like I had imagined. I wanted it like this: http://home.rasysa.com/pkg/template/style/frm_stylelarge.phtml?style_no=12042&pic_cd=14
instead what I got was this (rough drawing, very close!): http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c139/Viet_La_Amour/badhaircut.jpg
She had cut my bangs so short, I looked like a kid.. and barely layered anything... and the ends were cut straight across... like an amateur!!! I wanted to cry...
Was it my fault for not specifically, specifcally specifying EXACTLy how I wanted? Or was she just a bad hairdress?

And next time... when my hair grows out and I go to a different salon, what should I ask for in order for them to give me what I want?? (The layers!!)

The best thing you can do is take the picture in with you. Any good hairstylist will appreciate this because then she'll know exactly what you're talking about. If you had your hair cut in 10min, the salon is probably more about whipping out clients quickly than giving them the service they really want. I would go to a different salon. The ends of the haircut you like are very wispy and piecey, not at all blunt cut, so I can understand why you weren't happy. If your hair isn't too short already, try getting it cut now the way you want it. I'm guessing you won't have to take any more length off, just some different layering. Good luck, and btw, I love the first picture. So cute!

First of all, it isn't your fault. True, there are dozens of "layered shoulder-length hairstyles" available, and she may not have understood exactly what you wanted, but if she wasn't sure, she should have asked you for more specific information. Since she's the one getting the money, it would have been professional of her to ask, "How many layers?" or "How do you want the bangs?"
Next time, just bring the photo. The photo you posted would be a good thing to bring. And by the way, I noticed the hairstyle you wanted looked a lot like Kuchiki Rukia's from the anime, "Bleach". Coincidence...?
P.S.-->This is what Kuchiki Rukia's hair looks like from the front. Maybe you like it...? http://s-rebirth.net/Anime%20Index/bleach/images/rukia.jpg
A.P.S.-->A good hairstylist should *never* cut bangs straight across? What was she thinking???

It seems like you may want longer layers in the back and have it maybe angled in the front. Tell her "longer layers", or show her how short you want your shortest layer. That happened to me one time, it was horrible! You might want to get the layers cut out next time you go and then start over the following time. Sorry!

I think that if you want your hair cut a certaint way then you should bring a picture of the cut you want to the salon.
Best of Luck next time!!!!!!!! and i dont think that it was your fault, she just needs to listen more carefully or ask more questions so that nothing goes wrong.

No it wasn't your fault!
I've had the SAME thing happen to me more than once!
Either these people are NOT listening, or they just don't care! I never went back to the beauty shops where i got my hair butchered either! And, i warned all my friends not to go there either!

Find a different stylist, that's first. Also, whenever you have something particular in mind, bring pictures with you. Also, ask if this particular style you want will work with your hair texture. Good luck!

always remember to tell the hairdresser exactly what haircut and of what length you want otherwise she will do the job based on estimate...

Bring pictures and be very specific and don't be afraid to tell them you don't like what they are doing or you think they are doing it wrong.
