God, the Almighty don’t need anything or our prayers or our offerings. God is above everything we know as existing. But we need prayers offered to God to enhance our own mind and own self. Man tends to forget anything soon and he needs to be reminded at regular intervals. Man tends to deviate from the right path and he easily do mistakes. No police or no law can control him if he really wants to do any mistake. Suppose if we remember all time that someone (only our Creator) is watching us at all times, at all places, will anyone do mistake. Certainly not. Prayers at regular intervals (daily basis) will bring this kind of feeling and avoid us from doing mistakes. Although it is very difficult to bring this belief (faith) strongly, we have to continue to improve this. It is possible only thru prayers. Suppose a clean river is running in front of our house and everyday we take bath five times in it, do you think any dirt will remain in your body. Same is the role of prayers. It is not to be done as a ritual or custom. It is a duty to be done from our conscious.

The value of praying:
"Prayer is an inner condition of consciousness in which we are filled with the Light, Love, Power and Grace of God. Prayer is a mode of talking with God, a way of walking with God and an act of living in God. Prayer is a way of communing with the absolute Beauty and Power that God is. It consists in elevating our whole being and granting it an experience of the divine Consciousness. It is a kind of fellowship with God. The real prayer is an inner state of exalted and transformed Consciousness in which we realise our intimate and dynamic relations with the infinite Light and Love that the divine Being is."
In the Bible, we find all sorts of prayers:
Emotional outpourings: Hannah in I Samuel 1: 15
Crying out: Psalm 88: 1-2
Getting divine attention: Psalm 130: 2
Complaining: Jeremiah 20: 7
Asking: Philippians 4: 6-7
Passionate: Hebrews 5: 7
Silent: Romans 8: 26
Pray to ask, then listen and thank God every day for His love and mercy.
+
Prayer is all about changing us and conforming our lives to the will of God.

I think yr parents are perfectly right. IN the 24hours that u have for yrself, can u not spare atleast 10mins. morning and evening for praying to God ???
Praying to god means u are directly communicating with him or your innerself.
This strengthens yr willpower as well as aids in memory .
After praying and lighting a lamp [diya] in front of god do say a short prayer .
& u will notice the vigour & mental strength that u derive from such communion with Him.
All the best & God bless.

Prayer is not something that confines you to a place at a certain time. I pray whenever, where ever. In the car when I'm going to get my kids, washing dishes, gardening, etc.. God already knows our needs it says in Matthew 6. So why pray? Because He also knows that it's good for us. By praying we talk about things that trouble us, make us happy. Problems that need solving. It's like talking to a counselor. That makes one feel better already. That's why God wants us to pray. He knows it's good for our soul and mind and helps us to focus on Him during our daily lives.
It's a great feeling, knowing I'm not alone in anything but that God is right there with me. I used to pray in school before a test, or during a difficult exam. God helped me to stay calm and focus on my work.

Prayer is a means by which we draw nearer to God. God states that we should pray for the following reasons:
1. That the Lord God Himself should be honored through worship. (Isa. 57:15; Jonah 2:9)
2. For our spiritual blessing, as a means for our growth in grace. (Psa. 116:1)
3. For our seeking from Him the things which we are in need.
So we know that God hears all the prayers of the righteous. But consider the following:
A Christian hunter is hunting bears in the woods. While walking up a hill he grabs a branch for leverage and it breaks sending the hunter tumbling down the hill, gun flying off elsewhere. When the hunter dusts himself off he sees a huge bear charging him. The hunter begins running, but trips and falls, landing on his knees. Seizing the opportunity, and being a good Christian, the hunter begins to pray, "Lord, make this bear a Christian."
The woods are quiet, the hunter turns and, Hallelujah! He sees the bear on his knees, paws together, praying! Listening, he hears the bear praying, "Father, bless this food to my body."
The key message here is that God answers prayers of the righteous, but the answer you get may not be the answer you want, but it will always be the right answer. Prayer is a coming to God, telling Him your need (or the need of others), committing your way unto the Lord, and then leaving God to deal with the case as seems best to Him.
How should one pray to God?
I speak to God in the same manner as I write these words to you now. That is, I have a plain conversation (no “thou’s” “thine’s”, “thy’s”!) with Him each day, usually out under the stars late at night as my family sleeps. My prayers are conversations that follow a pattern. I start every prayer with the following: "Most merciful God, not my will, but yours, be done." I repeat that phrase often during my prayers. Sometimes I will do so for tens of times just to quiet my mind and make it open to hearing from my Creator.
Use the following pattern in all your prayers and you will see them answered: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. See the links below for more information. (acronym: ACTS)

It's a GLOBAL economic crisis not limited to the US. No one knows for sure, how bad it could get but international leaders are worried that all forms of trading could come to a complete halt because of credit freeze caused by the subprime mortgage loans. If you want, you could read "Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck to get an idea how it is to live during tough economic times. Just remember it's smart to play stupid.

The importance of prayer in our daily life is to establish a personal relationship with God! God always with a capital G the lower case g refers to idols and objects, statues, man made, artificicial etc. in reference to biblical things. The importance is to seek God first in all that we do. We gain strength and knowledge of who God is, and we discover if our allignment is congruent with our purpose in life according to God's plan. The importance of praying Praying daily helps us to know that we have a friend in God. Prayer is a act of obedience to God. Jesus prayed daily!. Take a moment to pray daily in your life and God will provide answers to questions like " What is the importance of pray in our daily life."

Let me ask you this--- If you are trying to get to know a girl at school and want to get her to like or even love you -how much time would you be willing to invest in this relationship? Would you be able to get to know her on a deep and meaningful level in 2 minutes a day or less?God loves you no matter how much time you spend with Him but your relationship is going to be better and stronger the more that you get to know Him. Prayer is time that you spend with God building a relationship with Him. It doesn't have to be formal -on your knees and out loud or with fancy words. It is simply you sharing your thoughts, dreams, joys and concerns with a best friend. Those who have never experienced this kind of intimacy with God will tell you that it doesn't exist but (no disrespect intended) they are wrong !! But just like any other relationship, a relationship with God takes time and effort. 2 minutes out of your day is nothing. I would encourage you to take things to God throughout the day and don't forget to spend some quiet time listening because God will answer you in very exciting ways.

Your parents are correct. By pray you get peace.
E malik tere bande hum etc.
Remember God in any way and you will get something directly or indirectly, immediately or later stage. You are not loosing any thing by prayer.
You should not ask anything from Devi / Devta etc. Simply thank to God.
