What is the problem with doormen in Belfast?

In Belfast anytime me and my mates go out we always get refused admission to hinghtclubs. The doormen usually say things like 'Regulars Only' or 'Not tonight lads'. What is their problem? What are doormen like in other cities, is it just a thing with Belfast or are doormen in general, morons?

You guys may not fit the "theme" of the club.
Doormen are told to choose people that seem interesting for that particular party.

I know this to be true because my friend had that job.
