Go to a professional! There is a reason we go to school and have a license to do hair. There is a lot of chemistry that goes into coloring hair beyond what the average person would think. What you have now is a color-correction. It will be a two maybe three step process to get your hair to your desired color. Start calling your local hair salons asap! Although I will say I live for home hair jobs that's where the money is!

Make an appointment at a salon that has a color specialist. You may have to have the artificial color completely stripped from your hair (only a professional can do this). Stripping the color will make your hair dry also, but there is a possibility it could removed the unwanted color. If the professional doesn't think stripping the color will help, you'll just have to wait it out. You can always go for a pixi style and cut the dyed hair off!

There is nothing you can do at home to fix it. You need to go to a salon, and it will be considered a color correction. The ends of your hair grabbed the red funny because they are bleached and therefore, very porous. Even if you were to put a dark brown color on at home, the ends would still come out muddy looking. Best thing you can do it go see a professional who can do it right and hopefully not damage your hair any further.

I am a stylist though when I can give tips to help people do their own hair I give them, But in this case I think you should go to a salon.

Noone in writing and without actually seeing your hair is going to be able to give you the proper tips to fix it. Someone with the knowledge and more than a few different colors on hand is going to be able to fix it.

It will end up being more than one process I am sure. And then they can give you the best possible conditioning treatments and instructions to maintain your hair in a healthy fashion.

Good luck to you!!!

Oh, dear. Go to a salon that has someone who works with color correction. I bleached my hair our and it was...awful. My hair was brittle and dry and straw-like. Thank God my husband insisted I go to a professional.
