I received this e-mail from a woman who questions my views, which does not surprise me, but she also questions other Chritians views.

Take a look:
"Jesus foretold of apostasy creeping into the Christian Congregation once he and the apostles died. And he wasnt off the mark either(Acts.20:29,30)Your question illustrates the confusion that has been brought about from the false teachings that have infilterated pure worship.Teachings such as Trinity,Immortal soul,Hellfire,Heaven;reward for all good people, automatic salvation, paid clergy class, and the list goes on
Something else the religious leaders dont teach their flock is found at Matt.24:14.Which states:"This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."
Not only do they not share in the preaching work as Jesus taught his disciples to do,(Acts.20:20;5:29).They also do not teach God's Kingdom and what it means to mankind."

Opinions?

For most of my life I have known that bible was full of contradictions and nonsense. What has me surprised is the way some people take that book as the literal "word of God". Must you willingly lose braincells when you read the bible?

I can't understand how you know that the Bible is so "full of contradictions and nonsense". What are you measuring it against? Because of your inability to see the Bible as the Word of God I wonder if it's not you that has lost the "braincells" necessary to read and understand what it is saying...
Acts 5:29 Is an argument Peter was having with the chief priests Acts 20:20 Paul didn't keep anything back taught the whole gospel..
Acts 20:29-30 This doesn't say that the church will be destroyed but evil will try to do so and the one appointed to be overseers to feed the church of God should be on guard.
The gospel of the kingdom has preached and is known in all the earth. Yes there are some who haven't heard and the Church reaches out to them daily. There are always those trying to Hide Christ and His love from the next generation. That doesn't change the fact that the command was, is and always will be obeyed by the Church. Having a scale to measure error from truth , the Bible, helps keep error out of the Church. It's when people like you start denying the Bible that it gets in, that or when the leaders restrict access to the scripture. If you want to debate the other doctrines you talked about (trinity, The Immortal spirit of a man, the existence of hell and the lake of fire, Heaven, reward, paid ministry, The list goes on.. I am ready to make a defense for the faith... Jim

John 1:1 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are two of many verses in the Bible that support the trinity. John 3:16 talks about God sending Jesus to die for the world so that everyone can have eternal life. Jesus talked about Hell many times, in fact, info. about Hell is more prevalent than info. about Heaven in the Bible. The reason why Jesus talks about Hell is not to scare people into a relationship with him, but to explain that Jesus is saving us from that, and we all deserve to go there, but we won't have to because Jesus will take our sins away from us. There are rewards in Heaven. Salvation can't be broken, no one can fall away from salvation. If you say you were saved once but aren't any more, then chances are you weren't saved in the first place (when I say saved, I mean saved from your sins- became a Christian). There is a verse in Hebrews that talks about falling away after being saved, and it says that it is impossible, but if the impossible happens, then you can't be saved twice. Hebrews 4:6-9 explains that. But, humans can't really defeat the impossible, and Jesus atoned for our sins and will preserve that. If you accept Jesus as your Savior, then you are saved from your sin and eternal punishment. If you don't, then you're not saved, it's as simple as that.
I agree with chris p on the alchohol thing for the most part. The Bible does say not to get drunk and not to be foolish with what you drink (it talks about that quite a bit in Proverbs). However it doesn't say don't drink at all. If you are a Christian, then you will have the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit always lets you know what your limitations are (what you should and shouldn't do). God bless.

There has been false teaching circulating through the churches for a very long time.
There are various denominations that teach false teachings.
It shouldn't be a surprise to you.
There are people who follow what the pastor says right down to the dot.

Take for instance, no drinking of alcohol at all. No wine, no high balls, no mixed drinks at all.
It is a false teaching.
Then once they are caught in it they quickly switch to the wine was mixed with water, this they get from another book not the bible.
The southern Baps teach this.
Some Pentecostals too.
No drinking at all is a false teaching.

Paul warns us of false teachers and I have ran into more than a few. That is why it is very important for us as individuals to spend time daily in prayer and Bible study so that we know the Word for ourselves and so that we are not leaving ourselves open to these false teachings. We also need to be aware that while the word of God is perfect our human understanding of it is not. That is why it is sometimes confusing for us and why it may seem as though there are contradictions. But most serious Bible students will tell you that the more you study scripture with the guidance of the Holy Spirit the more God will reveal to you and the more clearly you will see things.

EXACTLY!!! Not until the message of the Kingdom is preached to all men, will Jesus return! Thats why I dont believe that the end is as near as people like to think. We have a lot more to do as the body of Christ.

Some teach as instructed to, some don't. Thats why at some level, you're held accountable for seeking on your own.

That person's comments are an obvious reaction to something and not really concerned with the biblical teachings on those subjects.

No you do not have to loose brain cells when reading the Bible. The Bible is not full of contradictions. The Bible NEVER contradicts itself theologically.

There are a few fact contradictions but most of the contradictions you see on websites like skepticsannotatedbible are actually not contradictions at all they have grossly taken the texts out of context.

I don't take the Bible literally, but I do take it seriously. Actually, I don't think anyone else takes it literally, except perhaps those that have neither a right eye nor hand.
It would seem silly for God to give us these brains if we weren't to use them.

When I look at the list of "false teachings" your friend describes, she must be lumping Paul into the group of apostates, because clearly his letters provide support for a majority of these traditional beliefs.

Another explanation for the apostasies would include gnosticism, arianism, and other early beliefs.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.

Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!

Like many of us, if not all of us, she has some good mixed in with the bad. God certainly predicted a falling away before His return, but to deny the trinity, Heaven and Hell, Immortality etc reallly shows she is off the mark. Her quote out of Matt 24 has nothing to do with the church, it is a passage on the tribulation. Like I said we all have errors, and only the Lord knows for sure if she is one of His or not.

It sounds like your pal has walked a exceedingly tough highway getting decrease back on the stunning path. yet, the substantial element is that he's decrease back on the stunning path. what's exceeded off interior the previous is interior the previous. If he has positioned all of it in the previous the Lord, requested for forgiveness and repented then there is somewhat no might desire to save going decrease back over it. If he grew to become into in a position to introduce others to the actual fact of God's be conscious, then he might desire to have been doing something precise. Any factors that he grew to become into susceptible in would be cleared up with the help of those with extra know-how for those whose hearts are open to it. listed right here are 2 scriptures you will possibly desire to remind him of. 2 Corinthians 5:17 - "for this reason if any guy [be] in Christ, [he's] a clean creature: previous issues are exceeded directly to the excellent beyond; behold, all issues are exchange into new." And for those situations while/if he starts feeling "susceptible". Mar 9:24 - "... Lord, i've got faith; help thou mine unbelief."
