If I were to choose, I would say the one made of wood. Here's why: The two ships are of equal size. Size for size steel is heavier than wood. But the question also states that they are of equal strength...therefore the wood ship would be heavier since it would take quite a bit more wood to equal the stregth of a smaller amount of steel.

The wooden ship is heavier because the steel is stronger and can be a thinner hull, thusly more wood will be needed to make it of equal strength to the steel ship
